A view questions about Playon HD
Hallo, I'm going to buy the AC ryan PlayonHD very soon and wanted to know a view things before buying:
1. Is it possible to make a movie playlist and play them all with a button press?
2. What does the realtek chip accually do to make 1080p possible, my old atom 1,9Ghz dual core cant run that.
thanks in advance for answering the questions.

Re: A view questions about Playon HD
1: yes, just put them all in one folder and activate seamless auto play
2: you'll have to wait for an answer from the techies... Matt/Seattle? or anybody..
Groetz.

thanks in advance for answering the questions. Hello, 1. Yes it is. For movies we have other features such as thumbgen and YAMJ that help you sort, categorize and locate your movies as well. 2. The Realtek chipset is designed for playing/receiving files. I guess it's all about optimization. Your computer is designed for a lot of different purposes and also runs a lot of more demanding things on it default. For instance, you probably have a more demanding OS on your computer. PlayOn!Hd uses a simple Linux platform that is purely designed to boot and run fast with only task to play and recieve audio/video files. You will have no problem playing full hd 1080p with PlayOn!HD.

Groetz. so just to be sure, you can make a file (playlist) and play all the movies in a order(or shuffle if you like), your not going in a menu with all the files in it (is it comparible with media player classic and windows media player's playlists?). with kind regards,

Is that a thing you guys are working on?

This is the first time we hear about this request so perhaps you might want to post something in our developement/request forum? You find it here. Then our developers will look into it and if it's popular and doable it might be a possibility

Re: A view questions about Playon HD
I believe it is definitely optimization that allows a slower chip than your computer's CPU to decode and output that video stream to your TV but it is more than that. The 1073, a "device chipset for HD Media Players, contains a MIPS CPU and hardware decoding processor for audio and video." And the key component that makes it possible is hardware decoding. In your home PC your CPU is running code or software under your OS and is capable of being used to do a very broad range of tasks.
In the 1073, not only is the functions very limited and the design of the chip streamlined for those specific tasks but the main instructions set that decodes audio and video is hardware encoded onto the chip itself - which makes the running of that code extremely quick. So instead of running software code and interpreting other software code, it is a piece of hardware working directly on the raw streams.
