Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
The reason that no deadlines are mentioned is because when the deadline crossed the forum gets flooded with release dates questions etc etc etc etc.
To be simple a fw is done when it's done and tested.
So for the last time.
They don't give info about release dates. Fw is still beeing developed for all players. if not then this will be officially be anounced. So any rumours about devs stopped support etc is false.
If there is anything to be anounced officially then Acryan will do that thru the normal communication channels. Site/facebook/twitter and forum.

Hi Kraakie I think everyone understands the way AC Ryan release firmware, whether they like it or not. The AC Ryan staff who do use these forums do give excellent support and help with issues on the players I think the underlying frustration from a lot of the forum users is the lack of communication from AC Ryan as to what is happening with the issues raised here. And we appreciate the mods don't get much better info than the rest of us. I think people will continue to express frustration though, until there is a change. Andy

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
It doesn't have to be an exact date, just saying that the devvers are working very hard to release a firmware as soon as possible (or in the near future) would have been sufficiënt. You could have told us that you allready recieved a testversion Just a little bit of information keeps the users happy, keeping the users in the dark is annoying, but that's my opinion. Anyways.. i'm going to test the new firmware.. i'm happy (for) now

why why so hard coded firmware. I don,t understand. So the give other developers no space to make some develoments?. it,s just fun to make the firmware to your tast. give the feeling that we can play with it. Make a portal do somthing . This is so 2001.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
That's Realteks decision, AC Ryan, Mede8tor and other companies that use realtek chips have to work with a SDK was my understanding. Would be nice if Realtek would decide to make the SDK more open source or release it to the public.

When you have given A.C Ryan your money you should assume that their gone and nothing you say here will ever matter since you have allready given them the money.
Summing up, your money is gone, you are no longer of any interest to A.C Ryan, thats why no firmware is fixed. They don't get any money from fixing products allready sold.

Summing up, your money is gone, you are no longer of any interest to A.C Ryan, thats why no firmware is fixed. They don't get any money from fixing products allready sold. It has been 5 months since the last official firmware for the Playon!HD2 and the previous official firmware took 6 months. The firmware development for this player is almost non-existent and put simply....appalling. Nothing I read here in these forums with regards to firmware fixes for reported issues is convincing. It has long since become hollow speak. The long and continuing history of minor through to serious issues and what would appear on the surface to be staff taking these issues seriously with a willingness to get them fixed, has long since lost all credibility. I don't trust a single word I read that comes from anyone at A.C.Ryan with regards to any serious bugs being resolved any time soon or at all. Even the recent beta firmware with just the YouTube fix took more than its sweet time arriving.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
't been a while, the firmwares that were "promised" aren't arriving anymore, Realtek pulled the plug so AC Ryan thinks they dont have anything to do anymore and have pulled the plug aswell. Forums and discussion topics are closed.
Well, building a firmware is more than just changing the GUI, AC Ryan knows that by now i hope. Mede8tor had a player that uses the exact same hardware but they seem to do more than just change the GUI since their Firmwares are working just fine. They haven't stopped development either, they can still improve their firmware even though the SDK isn't being updated.
Still i think it's strange that two companies can use the same hardware and SDK's and have so many differences.

Hello Signe
[Moderarator Edit] - This is an AC Ryan forum, and discussions bout running rival manufacturers firmwares are not permitted [End of Edit]
Maybe we could nominate ACRyan for a "koude douche".
(To all non-Dutch; the "koude douche" or cold shower is a price given in the TV show "Radar". Companies who "don't deliver" get a cold shower. Companies that know the word "service", "after sales" and "happy customer" get a warm shower.)

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
And in 3 more days it will be 6 months since the last firmware.
Firmwares from A.C.Ryan are so few and far between. The company doesn't care about customer satisfaction beyond apologizing for their lack of customer satisfaction with their products in the forums. I can tell you who does care though - the customers who bought your media players who won't ever buy anything from your company again and will tell everyone who'll listen to do exactly the same.
Even if you release a new firmware within seconds of me posting this message, the pathetic lack of support thus far justifies everything I have said and then some.
