Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Is there any news about a new firmware for the PlayOnHD (1)? Samba isn't working properly on the latest (official!) firmware, keeps crashing and is way slower than advertised. It's a networkplayer so please fix that!
When can we expect a new firmware? 1 month, 2, 3...?? IS there a new firmware coming at all? Or is the HD1 dropped and do we users have to except that we bought a faulty product that is never going to work properly?

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
There was some talk of a new firmware for the V1 devices before Christmas - has this now been put back due to feedback of bugs on the r6629 firmware for the V2 devices? A reply would be appreciated Andy

Moan on the relevant firmware thread and the mods direct you here. PlayOn!HD (1) is "dead in the water". They are only concerned with GUI 2 and the old unit has not got the power or resources to use it properly. Reading the posts for the PlayOn!HD 2, even that hasn't got the resources to work properly. Networking is shoite. Network streaming is shoite. Their new baby is the VEOLO and It seems like all their efforts are directed at that, a glorified mobile phone! Time to look around for something better. Just my thoughts. Cheers. A.V.

kraakie wrote: [..] In this topic you can drop your comments suggestions and other stuff about the it will give the development team an easier to read firmware release topic in which they can see which bugs are still at hand instead of reading all kinds of posts about how well or how bad the development is going which is also important to know as customers are certainly very important as is their comments so this thread is also being read by acryan staff as well.
it is most certainly not for hiding away these comments please do understand that we are a very open community, and all reactions are welcome, the good and the bad (but again in a mature manner written) I've highlighted some text by Kraakie, it's the openingpost of this topic. Kraakie says that it's important to know how well or how bad the development is going, yet he doen't tell us anything (maybe he doesn't know but his connections to the staff are closer than ours. He also says that our input is important, yet when we tell that Samba is still not working the posts get deleted if you also complain about the lack of information about a possible(?) firmware. And he says it's an open community here but the most communication is done by the users and not by the Staff/Mods. We hear nothing.. Kraakie, any other mod or staffmember: "your" users are asking for information about a new firmware. The current official firmware still has a lot of flaws and crashes at least twice a week. Is this going to be fixed? If the devteam is working on it, when could there be a new firmware? I've PM'ed Kraakie about this post in the hope he or someone else will finally give us some answers.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
First of all i am a volenteer en not a employee.
Second one i refer to this topics because we want to keep the fw topics clean from all kind of discussions.
The fw topics are ment for experiences/bug reports and suggestions
I can not force the staff to reply in this topic
Of course we notify them to reply as much as possible but the responsibility is in Ac Ryan there hands not in the hands of the mods.
We are are also customers who are trying to help the users and also to keep the forum readable and organized.
if you want direct answers contact acryan direct by phone or my email
See the contact page for all contact data.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
You keep repeating yourself. Everybody knows the position of the mods. Nothing can be forced upon the developers. But the promised updates on firmware development (your post!) are scarce to say the least. The "open community" cannot function when the reply is to ask AC Ryan directly. THIS IS AN OFFICIAL AC RYAN FORUM. Not a fan based operation. Asking by mail or telephone will not help other users, that's what a forum is for. Open a new subforum for the discussions and move certain posts there instead of just deleting them. Experiences, bug reports or suggestions (the content of the FW topics) will lead to discussion. If the bugs would be described in the forum with workarounds and/or the priorities for fixing it, there would be less complaining. Now people are being told that their problem is known and reported, but there is no way for users to know that in advance. This is what makes this forum messy, listing the known problems in an organized way will definetely help!

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
I am repeating my self because i keep on getting the same questions.
And i am a bit done with that.
Your good in pointing fingers to the mods and flaming arround.
And you have a right to do that. But we mods do not have the same position as the staff.
And to close with a final word what you can expect from a moderator.
Support Keep the forum organized and clean from flamewars etc. Tutorials, tips and hints
What can you not expect from a moderator Responsibility for the Developing of the FW Responsibility for Quality of Support from the Staff and or the lack of Response if applicable. Firmware release dates.
From this point im not gonna discuss anymore what mods should or should not do.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Maybe you are getting the same questions because we never get an answer?
We know what your tasks as a moderator are but if you don't know an answer to a question you could ask a staffmember for advice. You keep avoiding the questions about a new firmware and the question about the HD1 still being supported or not. If you don't know the answer, please ask a staffmember if he is willing to provide us with some answers.
