Post freezing
Hi, i'm very happy with the mediaplayer, the only thing that annoys me is that it freezes sometimes.
Even when i'm not doing anything on it.. it's just playing the screensaver and i'm copying movies to it via windows explorer and suddenly it gets stuck.

Is this a known problem?
what could i do about it?

Hi, I have got exactly the same issue. It not only freezes while nothing is being done with the player but also while watching movies, it has started happenning lately and even after reinstalling the firmware its still there.

Secondly, I hear constant sound from the player, something like disk read/write operation you hear from your pc but slightly harder in sound, it seems it goes away if BT is switched off, any suggestionwhat it related to ?

Thanks
Mansoor

Mansoor, that would be the read/write - activity of the unit when downloading files via the BT you're hearing, and I agree, it is kind of loud.

I have to say, it only happened 2 times more after this topic, and now i've used it sometimes withouth freezing, so let's hope the problem solved itself.
Maybe I complained a little too fast, but it was annoying to have to take out the power to restart the thing.

Hello everyone,

Quite hard to give proper solutions when you don't include more details on what you are doing. What version of firmware you are using etc.

Random freezes, have you formatted your HDD before using it? If not, then you have to do this.

Reinstall to latest official firmware found on our support page.

Hi,

I have noticed that the freezing takes place most times when I am downloading with Bittorrent and some downloading is going on. I am using v7.0.6 r3875 firmware. But I have the same freezing issue with the previous firmwares.

Is it the bittorrent or samba software? How do I get it to be stable. This happens almost everytime I use BT, so its quite frustrating.

Hello,

Yes our BitTorrent feature is not yet the most stable feature I'm afraid. It really depends on how you use it. If you are on a very fast connection and are working with several torrents and the same time and then try to watch a movie of the network, then I'm quite sure it could crash. I would recommend to try different settings that depends on your setup/multi tasking preferences. If you are just downloading you can probably push the downloads more, if you are planning on watching a movie perhaps you should not max several jobs at the same time etc. Try lowering your settings until you find something that works for you.

There are newer firmware available from our support page that should work better with the BT client. This is still a known issue and even with latest firmware not 100% steady yet.

Br,

My HDD was formatted by PlayonHD before using it for the first time a year ago. Since update with latest official firmware(3582), I get random freezing while browsing menu and/or files which requires to unplug and plug back unit from power line to restart. Very annoying, to say the least. This bug has also been reported by several other members in the appropriate firmware update section.

Hello Mike50,

The only suggestions I can give with that information would be to re-flash the firmware. If problems still occurs, try downgrading to a older version to find out if it's the firmware or the hardware that is causing it and then go from there. Your device should definitely not give you random crashes if everything is working as normal.
