BUMP

Any update on this problem? Can the users help in any way by sending mails to Realtek asking them to fix this? It will not go away by itself and until it is fixed your files can be mangled or disappear, so it should have top priority. Please AC Ryan staff, what is the current status??

Post Re: NTFS filesystem problems
Steffen (s-n1965) has done some tests using different firmwares (GUI1/GUI2), filesystems (NTFS/ext3) and connections (internal HD/USB). His post (in German) can be found here:
http://www.acryan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=16265&start=20
The findings are alarming, his batch script causes file corruption even on GUI1 when writing to the internal hard drive using NTFS. No problems with ext3 with both GUIs. And even more surprising, no errors were found when using NTFS on the USB port!
Can the dev team at AC Ryan PLEASE try to reproduce this and find a solution or workaround? As all HD1 and HD2 users are affected by this, they should make a sticky in the forum explaining the situation and how to avoid data loss. Apart from a private mail from Mikael (saying he would let the developers know) we still have no official statement from AC Ryan!

Post Re: NTFS filesystem problems
Reading in Steffen's post that the problem also occurs in firmware 4824, I wonder if it is related to this change of the firmware:
Quote:
Version v7.3.x r4824
what’s new in this release

[1. - 25.]
26. Remove TIME settings (not applicable to model)

I noticed that the file time stamp is wrong when using the Playon for file operations.

Small correction: I have use USB-Stick and USB-Card not a USB-harddisk.
I believe with an USB-harddisk were the mistakes also come.
But i have no USB-harddisk.

And another "satisfied customer":

Come on, AC Ryan. We need an update concerning data loss! Give a timeline and/or the current status. There is not nearly enough communication about this highly critical problem!!

Ialready happened to me four times corrupted files, and moved to alternative firmware before losing the files.
ACR-PV73200 had version V7.4.6.r5440 and I'm using a G2 portable 500gb samsung (if help)

The alternative firmware will not help you, because all mediaplayers with Realtek chips are affected.
If you are using an external disk drive, the easiest solution is to replace the NTFS partition(s) by an Ext3 partition. An Ext3 formatted external drive will be recognized by your Mini.
You can use the Mini Tool to create an Ext3 partition on your USB disks in Windows. This worked for me.

I could do it but then the windows will not recognize and ask to format.
And then how to move the files to disk?
With the alternative firmware never happened.

You can install an ext3 driver for Windows.
e.g. Ext2Fsd
