Post Mass storage device for android phones
Is it possible to use an android phone as mass storage device for Veolo?
I'm using a Samsung galaxy s and the mass storage can work fine on windows-based computers.
However, when I tried it out on Veolo, the connect prompt appears as per normal on my phone when i plug in the device to veolo, but after clicking on it and activating mass storage mode, the phone appears to successfully go into the mode, but nothing happens on Veolo.

Is there some settings that needs to be configured or drivers installed?

Have you tried just reconnecting it or maybe use the other usb port? I use a Nokia N8 which works fine and i can access the phone, play movies, music and watch pictures from there. It shows up as USB device C:

Still have problems even after reconnecting, changing port, and even cables but still does not work.
Once I plug the cable in, veolo screen says "safe to remove sd card"

Please advise.

Hi, while symbian based phone can do it well sorry to say that on Android even if you enable the USB storage detection on the phone it will still not allow it to be detected. This is because of the OS itself as Android required certain system to be install first on the host before it can detect the mass storage, like a Android USB driver that you can download and use only via the PC. .

I see. In that case is there some workaround means to do large file transfers between the phone and veolo?
Perhaps via some wireless means?

Another solution for you to try :D . But this suggestion will only allow one way of doing it and it is via your Phone using the ES file explorer. If you do not have the ES file explorer on your phone please do download and install it first.

For the player just make sure you are also connected on the same network as your phone.
1. Please check for the Veolo IP address
2. Enable Samba service under network service setting.

Using the phone ES file explorer.
1. Run the application, from the upper left corner make sure you are browsing local or phone memory.
2. Select the files that you wanted to transfer from the phone to the player (better if it is a folder).
3. Press and hold your finger until the new window pop up with copying option. Select copy.
4. From the upper left corner select LAN.
5. Select NEW by clicking the "+" sign, then select scan.
6. Select the IP address that comes with your player.
7. Select the player storage where you want to copy the files.
8. Select copy. Done.

Hope this help.

hi,

as an additional idea i would suggest to use cloud storage such as from dropbox. You get like 5gb for free and they have clients that support windows/mac/ios/android/linux and the likes. With the help of cloud storage you can synch your files across all devices autmatically which is very easy and is at this moment my preferred way to avoid compatibility issues across platforms which use different protocols :)

cheers,
