Hi guys,

I just bought the velo( my first media streamer actually). All my videos are stored on my NAS (synology). I enable media server and even itunes server on it. But someone velo still does not see my NAS when it scanned the network.

Any advice would be much appreciated. thanks thanks

Hi,

the included media server on your nas and itunes make use of DLNA/UPnP. VEOLO out of the box does not support this as it also not mentioned in our specifications.

For the VEOLO to be able to 'see' your NAS you will need to activate SAMBA (windows file sharing) Protocol on your NAS.
An alternative to SAMBA would be to use NFS which is faster and more stable as well. Please check your NAS manual and/or config on how to activate this.

If you want to use UPnP there is of course apps for that which allow you to discover your media server.
One of those is for example 'arkmc' which only works wirelessly though. I'll try to find some more and let you know.

Thanks for the prompt response. I managed to get SAMBA to run on my NAS and now movies are streaming in smoothly from my NAS to veolo.

NICE. Video streaming is smooth on my GIGABIT network and i it seems to play all the file format I have and the subtitles (.scr) was recognize and display clearly.

One tip to other users. When you are on the "LAN" option, do not rely on the automated scanning to discover your server, instead, click on "new server" option and manually enter the IP, username and password of your server (which of cos much reside on your home network)

Have zoom down into both Sonology and QNAP, not sure which model are using with your Veolo? Thanks.

I am using synology but i guess QNAP will work just as well with VEOLO if you get samba running

Just got my VEOLO today.

I have a WS Sharespace but I dont know how to configure it for NFS or SAMBA. Anyone?
