Post Playon! problem with Network and iMac
Bought a PlayOn!HD. I have some trouble finding my POHD on my iMac through the wired network.
From the POHD menu I can see my iMac, logon successful, but i can't reach any of my directories on my Mac. It must be something with properties on my Mac or network. The files on my Mac are shared, so that's not the problem.
From my Mac I can't detect the POHD! No extra HD shows up in my Finder! I have a POHD! with a 500Gb hard disk.
Linking an extra Maxtor HDD to the POHD is no problem. But it's a little useless to link my HDD to the computer, copy files and drag back the HDD to the POHD downstairs. It must be an easy thing I guess, but I can't find this little thing.

Thanks in advance.

Gr, Peter

Did u set up your network settings under setup in POHD?

when you find your POHD ip address,
On your IMac go to GO in Finder , click connect to server, and write:
smb://¨your POHD IP address¨

Little further on this lazy Sunday, spending it on internet, POHD and Mac

I managed to set up my mac to see the POHD.
I already did the thing you mentioned. Now I still got the problem not able to approach the files of my Mac with the POHD. Workgroup and iMac directory are shown, but after that I can only return to the previos. As mentioned, on my Mac some directories are shared.
Another thing now is, that files larger than 4GB can't be transferred to the POHD over the network. When I try to transfer from my Mac to POHD, I get error -36. When I connect mac and POHD trough USB there are no problems. But then I have to disconnect all cables and drag the POHD to my Mac. I don't think that's the thing I want.
Thanks by the way for your answer, McFortunato.

It took me awhile to get set up with my Macbook...somehow I got there.
A matter of trying new things. I had to set up Paragon so I could see NFTS usb hard disks with mac.
Works fine now. Can't say what the problem is with your 4GB limit.
You have the newest firmware?

It took me a while also. But the problem is nearly fixed.

In SystemPreferences, share, than options, you can setup how to share. I chose the one "share through smb". Set up that one and I was able to see my Mac on the POHD. I was also able to stream from my Mac. But the MKV files are not running smooth. So I decided to copy the files to my POHD. I got the error-36 message. Huh? Tried another time and I was able to copy 8.35 Gb to the POHD. I gave no problem anymore.
The 4gb limit of copying (Mac issue) was avoided by Macfuse (can be found elsewhere on this forum). I did format my POHD through USB connecting on the Mac. Formatted the HD in the POHD with the NFTS-3G option. After connecting the POHD to my TV again, formatted the HD again through the POHD-menu. The biggest partition on the disk is formatted now at NFTS-3G. Gave no more problems copying files larger than 4GB.
The small problem I still have is that I can't copy files from the POHD-menu. I always have to go to my Mac and copy files to the POHD. I can see the files on my Mac with the POHD-menu, but when I want to copy them to my internal HD, it's not possible. Someone there who can help me out?
Thanks!

If you want to access your files on your Mac over your network on your POHD.
First check this :

viewtopic.php?f=91&t=4225

After this on your POHD go to network -> My shortcuts
Press the menubutton, choose Add

Fill in the username and password you created on your Mac
and also fill in the IP address of your Mac.

Now you should be able to access your files on your Mac
See also chapter 4.5 in :

Works for me....

My english not so good

With my Mac I can connect to smb :/ /.
On the OPHDmini2 I see my Mac in my Workgroup and are in the My shortcuts.

I can also log onto my mac.
Here it comes.
The folder is shared, I must also enter in a username and password.
But that does not work.
What am I doing wrong?
Already tried different password?
