[HOW-TO] UPnP/DLNA control via iOS, Android devices
Hi folks,
the VEOLO is a great device if it comes to apps. However the Marketplace is flooded with currently 350.000 apps which makes it really difficult for end-users to figure out the 'good' ones that do what is needed. Since the VEOLO doesn't have native UPnP / DLNA compatibility we need of course an app that does exactly that.
The apps I am gonna introduce to you are called ArkMC and Mediacontrol. Both apps can be obtained for free and they work pretty nice together with iPHONE, iPAD, Android Phones and Tablets. I even got it working with my Nokia N8 which runs on Symbian. The apps will allow you to browse for UPnP Servers in your network and playback content on the VEOLO.
Want to use your Phone to push some music, photos or even videos to your VEOLO? No problem & this is how:
Apps you need: ArkMC, Mediacontrol, MX Video Player and eventually a UPnP Server on your PC / Laptop / NAS such PS3 Media Server (free as well!)

http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/1. MX Video Player1.1. Install MX Video Player and open it directly
1.2. it will ask you to also download the proper codec package which is ARM v7. This you need as well to have support for different file formats.
2. ArkMC:2.1. Install the donwloaded .apk file and start it.
2.2. you can press the 'menu' button to access the settings page of ArkMC. Here i for example change the player software to MX Video Player (or any other external player from the market)
3. iMediacontrol / aMediacontrol for the use of iPHONE / iPAD / Android devices:3.1. download and install it on your mobile device from the market place or the appstore
3.2. once you start the app on your device it will scan for upnp/dlna compatible devices. You should see now 'Arkdua DMS (VEOLO)' and for example your Media Server on your NAS and/or PC
3.3. Simply choose the one where your files are located that you want to 'push'. In my case i choose PS3 Media Server [Arne] and browse to my iTunes Library to choose a music file.
3.4. by selecting the track you will get a new pop-up to select your output device and of course you choose 'Arkuda DMR (VEOLO)'. The track will start playing on your VEOLO now

.
4. PS3 Media Server:4.1. simply download and install the PS3 Media Server on the OS of your choice (supports Windows, Linux, OSX!)
4.2. make your settings and under Navigation / Share Settings you should add the folders you wish to share.
4.3. if you are using iTunes you should also activate the checkbox for 'Show iTunes library'.
The Server is now setup for basic use. Of course there are dozens of options you might find interesting. A guide can be found on their Homepage with loads of tutorials in different languages and even a youtube link. Check this
Link.
NOTE #1: this is a suggestion of apps that I am personally using as well. Of course you can choose other apps or UPnP Servers. Great other UPnP Servers are for example Twonky or even Windows Media Player/Center, XBMC and the likes. If you happen to find other cool apps that work nicely please feel free to share them here in your replies:).
NOTE #2: [WIFI ONLY - your VEOLO needs to be connected via WIFI to your network as ArkMC doesn't support LAN connection yet!]P.S. suggestions and/or questions are of course always welcome.
best regards & happy pushing / streaming!
