 Problem with Firmware r2388
Hi,
I tried to install firmware r2388 on my PlayOn!HD and encountered error complaining that the firmware can only be used for Playon!HD, after which it hung at the warning page. After I restarted the Playon!HD is stucked at the loading screen and to my horror it is showing as "Playon!DVR"?
On looking through the r2388 thread, I realised I am not alone, but I cannot find a possible solution to upgrade my Playon!HD to r2388. It was also from that thread, I manage to find clue how to salvage my Playon!HD by forcing a downgrade to the previous beta version firmware r2089 (THANKS rainman).
Question:
1. Now that I downgraded my firmware to the previous beta version, my ACRyan can start and behave normally but the loading screen still says Playon!DVR????
2. What do I have to do to upgrade to r2388 or this is a known problem and I should hold back until the next firmware release?
NOTE: I am using Original ACRyan Playon!HD. I know in the market there are a few other product possibly using the same chip set, but mine is authentic and bought from ACRyan distributor in last year Singapore IT show.
Regards, JKONG

 Re: Problem with Firmware r2388
Hey there jkong,
You seem to have gotten one of the early players, there was a mix-up in the factory and that's why you see the DVR image. Do me a favor, PM Eugene your serial number of the device (found on the back of the player as a sticker), where you purchased the player and also tell Eugene that you are having the issues with the DVR screen. He will try an arrange an exchange unit (new model) for you. Please do note that Eugene is not back in the office till Friday, so please bear with us.

Wow now this is what I call excellent forum/community support. I appreciate your reply and I will check the serial number and PM Eugene as advised.
Just a quick question, when swapping the unit, I suppose the movies I have copied onto the internal harddisk will not be affected, i.e., the internal HDD will be transfer to the new box? Please don't tell me I got to reformat the HDD.
Thanks again for the prompt response.
cheers! JKONG

 Re: Problem with Firmware r2388
When he tells you to send the unit back, just take out the HDD yourself to make sure that nothing is affected, doesn't take more than 5 minutes. Then you just get a new unit and plonk it back in. Your HDD is fine, so no need to send it along.

Is there an exchange for the unit or just re-program? Eugene ask me to send back the unit and said there is no exchange for the new unit. Just re-program. Please rectify.

 Re: Problem with Firmware r2388
I tried r2388 and also the new pps beta.
Noted that my m2ts and one particular AVI file cannot be read - it prompted "Fatal Error"...
1. m2ts - from my panasonic video camera - was able to read when firmware was r2089 or something, but lagged.
2. AVI - it is a 4gb file - was running fine when firmware was r2089 or something.
Please help.
