Post Can't connect to NAS
Hi,

I've got a problem with my PlayOn connecting to my NAS:
I've got a NAS from Fantec (manual: http://www.usbex.com/landrive/landrive- ... 0503-m.rar). It is a pretty old one, so I'm not able to create users and I didn't set any passwords. From my PC I can easily access it via \\IP.of.the.NAS\. I am not asked for username or password.

When the PlayOn tries to connect to this NAS, it always asks for Net User ID and Net Password. I've tried everything now (guest, root, admin, leaving it blank,...), but I can not connect to the NAS. The login always fails.
Connection from the PlayOn to my Windows shares works fine with the User ID "guest".
Any suggestions how I could connect to my NAS? Without the possibility of streaming all my files from this NAS the PlayOn is absolutely useless for me and i would have to return it.
The NAS doesn't support UPnP, so that's no solution.

And btw: Is it possible to directly connect to a subfolder, like \\IP.of.the.NAS\Folder ? Because the configuration of the NAS allows setting passwords for subfolders, but not for the root directory.

I hope that someone can help me.

usually you can use "guest" (no capitals) and leave the password empty..

Do you have the latest firmware on the LAN Drive?

Then it could be a compatibility issue... It's my only option..

Hi there Cooalis ,

i need to know what are your exact network settings , ive tested loads of nas with auto settings and a simple linksys router without any problems ,
as far as for the nas you posses its a bit old and unfortunately i don't have it in stock so i could check it , maybe as bjorn stated might be a compatibility issue but i cant know without checking ,

Reficul

Ok, what exactly do you need?
I've connected my computers and the PlayOn to a fritzbox 7170 router. They all have static IPs, I don't use DHCP. The name of the network is "workgroup". I can see that network in the network menu of the playon. The PlayOn can login to all the available network devices exept the NAS.
When samba is running I can also connect to the PlayOn from my computers.
So everything despite the connection to the NAS works as it should.

Ok, forget it. Just got an answer from Fantec. They say that it is only possible to access the device from Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. They don't know why, as they can't get any information from their chipset manufacturer about that issue.

Thanks for trying to help anyway.
