Hello Playon!HD Mini2 owners!

We are happy to announce our new Official firmware v9.5.5.r7317!
Below you will find links to download this new firmware together with the change log and instructions on how to install this firmware.

Update - 07-02-2012: We have replaced this firmware v9.5.5.r7317 with a new revision that fixes the Thumbnail view (distorted image) issue, so you can view your folders with 'Thumbnail view'. If you with your remote control go to 'Setup > Misc > Version info' and check the 'Compiled at' date. If it does not say: Feb 07 - 2012 - you will not have the updated version. Simply re-download and flash this firmware again to have this fixed.

Thanks to our development team for this quick fix!

Post Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD Mini2_PV73800_v9.5.5.r7317
I just installed the new firmware ! I Use the Mini2
Connected with HDMI to LED TV

Firmware Improvements for me ? NO ! Same Problems since I have thos Box (03/2011)

I use to watch videos and photos from my windows7 PC via LAN Network !

After I wateched a file and then did nothing, see the screensaver, my windows PC fell to sleep.
At this Moment the Mini2 is not reacting anymore. I cannot go to Home, Menu ... nothing
I have to shutdown, disconnect the Power cable !

After watching a few different files, photos and videos, the sound disappears !
I can't watch any video file with sound. I have to restart or to go to the Audio menu and switch from LPCM to passthrough or vice versa !

To jump from an Network Directory to the Home Menu still needs up to 7 seconds !
Menu is still slow ! Why the hell is this Unit so slow ? My old PlayonHD and my Egreat are so fast ?

Mini2 don't see my windows7 PC, have to restart 2 or 3 times !
Thought my kind of using is nothing special and should work.
There are so many improvements for things I'll never hear again in my hole life, strange for me !
Have a nice day :-)

These comments are concerning the Jukebox implementation on the new firmware release.

Firstly, all I can say is very poor quality control on the implementation. NOTHING has been fixed since r6629 and I have seen innumerable comments on this forum pointing out the deficiencies.

Let me say that I have a fully functioning jukebox and have checked the YAMJ xml output to see if the correct data is held and IT IS!!!.

1. Main index page: Truncation of title. This becomes highly evident with titles such as "Lord if the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring" when there is more than sufficient space for the title to display in the middle bar.

2. Detail page: Again my comment on the truncation of the title when the title is truncated way too short.

3. Detail Page: Calculation on the stars is incorrect. They are always rounded down. Wrong!!! A decimal fraction of >,5 should always be rounded up, a decimal fraction of <.5 should always be rounded down. The convention I have always used for decimal fractions =.5 is that if the integer is odd, round down, if integer is even, round up.

Picky picky, I know but let's get it right.

The "Director" field is spaced too far right from the heading eg should be "Director: Terry Gillam" (one space between) not "Director: Terry Gillam" (about 4-5 spaces)

Both the Director and stars fields should line up, eg

Director:_Terry Gillam
Stars: ___Bruce Willis,Madeleine Stowe,etc,etc

Not
Director:_____Terry Gillam
Stars: _______,Bruce Willis,Madeleine Stowe,etc,etc

The "Stars" field is always populated with an comma (,) before the first stars name. This is incorrect parsing/ buildup of the XML by the firmware as I have double checked the XML and there are no commas, just the stars names in individual fields.

I can forgive the incorrectness of not having a space after the separating commas to save on display width.

The audio codec display is incorrect. It is displaying the video codec instead eg XVid instead of AC3. Again the data is held correctly in the XML.

I have yet to see a file encoded with an XVid audio codec after 10 years of encoding. :grinning: .

As an aside, the correct audio codec is displayed if the info button is pressed during playback.

As a general comment on the firmware, there is still too much Dutchglish/inconsistent English in the interface and I will document these separately at a later date.

As I said above, very poor QA of the Jukebox interface and I am very disappointed in this poor implementation.

CONGRATULATIONS

The Mini 2 is now one year old and it's still nowhere near working properly!

My main issue is with the subtitles and I have reported these problems at least 3 times in that year but still they are not working as they should.

* Every media player I have ever come across checks both the current directory and ./subtitles for subtitles - but not the Mini2.

* Every media player I have ever come across can display colour codes in .srt files - but not the Mini2.

* Subtitle automatic selection still doesn't work properly (.mkv file with .srt subs merged into it)

Not only that but it still:

* Shows the network speed (why???)

* Puts those solid black bars across the screen when you press a key

Each time you release a new version of the software I try it hoping you've fixed these problems, and each time I am disappointed and hate you people even more.

I'm not expecting anything complex, just asking for this device to finally come out of beta testing and start working as it should, but I'm beginning to think that is never going to happen.

Come on, for goodness sake. Pull your fingers out and fix all these bugs!!!

I have the menu on Dutch.
When the BD-Lite menu is on then no subs are choosen automaticaly.
When the BD-Lite menu is off the first subtitle is choosen automaticaly and not specific the Dutch.

I have all my movies in avchd and in subfolders by name of the movie. With Tumbgen I have 0001.jpg about the movie, when I look the the thumgen moviepicture and browse, I can't push OK or Play, I must left the picture and then automaticaly return to the subdir where I start the browsing.

Thanks for improving the firmware and better luck next time.
