The reason we have did not release this as a official release, but rather a beta release, is due to the known issues that are still present. We have improved the firmware in various fields and feel that this release sorts many of the highly requested issues that have been reported. Change log:

Model: AC Ryan ACR-PV73800 Playon!HD Mini2
Version: v9.5.5.r6629
Release: 2011-11-25
Firmware History
New Features / Improvements / Bug Fixes
Version v9.5.5.r6629

What’s new in this release:
1. Improved GOTO function, now able to directly input numeric on the entry fields
2. Improved various menu language translations and OSD errors
3. Improved audio playing indicator bar to match with the current progress of playback
4. Improved sync with various .txt subtitle formats
5. Improved subtitles handling
- Multiple SRT subtitles for a video, naming the desired subtitle file the same as the video name will
make it the default subtitle during playback
Example;
If you have 'Avatar.mkv' video and 'Avatar.srt', 'Avatar.dutch.srt', 'Avatar.german.srt', etc Avatar.srt will be the default subtitle
If you prefer to have other subtitle as the default subtitle, just rename that to 'Avatar.srt'
- Only subtitles that are relevant to the video being played will be displayed and selectable
Example;
If you have 'Avatar.mkv' and 'Iron Man.mkv' together with 'Avatar.srt' and 'Iron Man.srt' subtitles in
a single folder
When playing 'Avatar.mkv' and pressing the subtitle button will only display and let you select
'Avatar.srt'. 'Iron Man.srt' will not be seen as a selectable subtitle
6. Added audio setting that can be directly accessed when pressing the MENU button during audio/video playback
7. Added 'Show all files' option in SETUP - SYSTEM menu to provide users the flexibility of manipulating files that are otherwise filtered out by the system as non-media types
8. Added Thai and Hebrew virtual keyboard layout and input method
9. Added support for PGS subtitles in MKV container
10. Fixed the limit of maximum 15 subtitles placed in a single folder
11. Fixed missing audio channels when playing back video with multi-channel AAC audio via an external amplifier
12. Fixed constant rebooting problem caused by the index file being corrupted after scanning any MP3 files with an ID3 tag that contains a large file size embedded image
13. Fixed system reboot when loading a Jukebox created with AC Ryan YAMJ Installer v2.0
14. Fixed random system freeze when exiting or stopping from playing a movie in Movie Jukebox
15. Fixed unable to display YAMJ generated TV Series and Boxsets in Movie Jukebox
16. Fixed broken service to NBC TODAY SHOW in Video Podcast
17. Fixed no audio bug when using certain services in Internet Media if you are using SPDIF/OPTICAL connection to an external amplifier
18. Fixed during audio playback, ID3 details does not appear after returning from screensaver, MENU options or SETUP
19. Fixed unable to load subtitles when default subtitle option in Setup > Misc > Subtitle is turned off
20. Fixed during a paused video playback and screen saver appears with option set to Photo Album or Flickr, will cause the system to reboot
- Due to a Realtek SDK limitation, only the default screen saver image will appear during a paused
video playback
21. Moved Shortcuts menu to the first listed menu on the Home Screen

Known issues/high priority to fix:

GUI/Interface file copy using Samba network protocol = If you use the GUI/Interface with Samba network protocol to copy a file/folder to your USB-storage. The system will reboot.

Workaround to transfer files: You can use NFS, or the Samba PC environment (drag and drop) to transfer files if you want to use the network to transfer files.

If you enable 'Setup>System>Scan Storage' your system might crash depending on the files you have scanned, and create a corrupted '.Theater' folder, or if you then enter 'Movies' or 'Music' sections from the main menu, and change the view or filter (by pressing 'Menu') the system will reboot. If you would encounter this issue, you would have to manually delete the '.Theater' folder by connecting the USB-hard drive to your PC/Mac and remove the '.Theater' folder from the root folder of your hard drive. Then boot the Playon! with your TV, and go to 'Setup>System>Restore default Yes' and insert the USB-hard drive.

- Subtitle bug for embedded subtitles in MKVs still not solved (playback via Samba access or UPNP access)
- Network access by "OK and saves as favorite" still failed (box freezes for some minutes till failure message appreares)
- playback has "mikroruckler", this is new :-(

Embedded subs are working fine, and there is no support for subs using upnp.
Check your network setup and router config.

I'm currently testing this beta software, and I think I found some issues:

- Samba is not automaticly started on boot (when enabled)
- The acryan doesn't respond to icmp pings
- Telnet access is disabled
- When browsing the network in thumbnail mode I saw some strange behaviour in the gui

Flashed twice in safe mode and it didn't take just stuck on the boot screen. Went back to 5440 and then did the USB upgrade from the menu.
Reflashed again in safe mode and it took.

Network seems to stutter.
Doesn't remember last position played - dodgy mkv not a bug
Will not do the 30 second skip - dodgy mkv not a bug
Just crashed in the middle of a film - dodgy mkv not a bug

All of this is being ran through hard wired lan from a NAS box

On the plus side SPIDF passthrough works and I don't have to mess around in the menu like before.

Edited to update my original post as found it was a fault in the mkv - sorry
