Could be possible, I always do "full" upgrades, that is not from the upgrade menu so that I don't keep any settings just to be sure. I doubt that it's a faulty unit, just that everyone has a unique setup with different firmware, I never had a reboot at around the r3966 update, after that it all changed. Should probably downgrade as I don't seem like the only one with the reboot/workgroup/samba problem.

I think it simply reboots cause it can't see the NAS (workgroup), I bet it wouldn't if the samba issue was fixed.
Currently using a synology 710+ NAS. Sometimes the mini sees my sat box which also has a share, but not the nas, seems like some broadcast problem. But it still shouldn't take more than 60sec to logon to a nas with/without a password under the "my shortcuts" menu. All other computers in my networks do not have that delay.

I can confirm I have no connecting/rebooting issues with my 2008 Server either. I'm using an account with no password, with read only access to all my shares, via wired connection. The server/shares always appear, whether using shortcuts or the browser, and initial login takes a couple of seconds tops.

Now, I did have rebooting issues with my old Netgear NV+ NAS, but only when the NAS went into power saving mode, presumably because the Mini didn't wait long enough for it to "wake up". I presume network connectivity issues could cause the same symptom?

I've just updated to the r5440 firmware and have found I can't update the jukebox any more!

I've re-scanned the folder with the new YAMJ version 2, then after updating the firmware on my HD2 mini, I browsed to the index file from the jukebox (in the movie folder on my Thecus N2200 NAS) and selected update. 2 seconds later the box reset itself, and it does this every time, preventing the jukebox from updating.

I've re-installed the firmware but have exactly the same problem. Has anyone else found this?

(I'm not experiencing the problem with shortcuts causing it to reset!)

I got my Mini2 last week and updated the firmware. Issues i've noticed so far

1) Reboots while accessing shortcuts (This is when u access the short cuts directly, but once you open the shortcut location from the file manager and then use the shortcut after that it works)
2) I've a wifi printer and a NAS on the same network. If i turn on the the printer, the NAS link in My Shortcuts will open the printers storage option, (i've reserved ip addresses for all my devices so its not an ip address problem)
3) Device freezes randomly, have to power cycle to get it back up

and to make things worse
My friend got a wd tv live yest (for almost 100$ less) which made me regret my decision to buy the mini2 because
1) It has flingo which has Vimeo (i really want that)
2) UI is faster/smooth and it automatically detects ur network shares

Am i'm being unrealistically optimistic in thinking that, ac ryan will eventually get most of the issues sorted and add some more cool features (like vimeo access)..i hope not

Just to answer your last question, No your NOT being unrealistically optimistic in thinking that, ac ryan will eventually get most of the issues sorted and add some more cool features.

That of coarse is only my opinion, but this is based on my experience wich comes from trying seval different players including WD players from companies like Popcorn, western digital, tvix and now A C Ryan. I have yet to experience other manufactures to make such a effort as A C Ryan does.

Hi A.C.Ryan,

Can't find any discussion about the infamous HD DTS issue in this 5400 release. Has this release resolved the issue?

Currently I'm still with 3966 and stucked with stereo output from HD DTS movies - both BD & DVD! But okay with MKV! Should I update to 5400?

regards

it looks like 'subtitles' can NOT be found / enabled if the mini2 has read-only access?
can ACR please confirm this? and in the process, explain why this should be the case?

I can confirm that it does work with read-only access. Just be sure the subtitles are ON in the settings menu before you launch the movie :)

Got to love those reboots of the new and improved shortcut menu =p

Something I noticed when typing on the 'virtual keyboard' how come the numeric keys on the remote don't work for typing? Also when using an usb keyboard space doesn't work unless you go to the 'space' on the virtual keyboad and press enter?

A lot (all?) of the people who are getting the shortcuts/reboot problem seem to be new owners. I wonder if the retailers have updated the firmware and not done it in safe mode or something, same for the people who've updated themselves?
