We are happy to announce our new official firmware.
Below you will find links to download this new firmware together with the change log and instructions on how to install this firmware.

Please note that YouTube is not fixed yet. We currently don't know how long this will take and don't want to hold back this firmware release since it is a big improvement in a lot of areas! This does not affect YouTube XL. Read more about our YouTube statement here -> viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15436

We have turned off 'Setup>System>Auto Scan' by default. This means that the main menu 'Movie/Music/Photo' selection will not be accessible until this function has been turned on and scanned your local storage. You can use 'Files Manager' or the new 'Shortcuts' for quick access of your files. We have done this change due to the possibility of adding 'Shortcuts' and to save resources of the player for those who don't want to have this function on.

The flashing Procedures: We have 2x separate ways to flash your firmware. We strongly recommend you to use the ‘Safe-Mode method’ when it’s the first time you install this new firmware.

Safe-Mode method (*recommended!):
1. Download and extract the .zip file into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32.
2. Insert the USB-stick to your player.
3. Shutdown the player.
4. Press and hold down the power button in front of the player for 15 seconds.
5. Your player will restart and install the new firmware.

System update method:
1. Download and extract the .zip file into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32.
2. Insert the USB-stick to your player.
3. Go to Setup>Misc>USB Upgrade and press 'Enter' on your remote control to confirm.
4. Your player will restart and install the new firmware.

!!DO NOT POWER OFF THE UNIT WHILE FLASHING! THIS MIGHT CAUSE DAMAGE AND RESULT IN DEFECT HARDWARE!

Note:

A vast improvement, thank you, especially for sorting out some of the subtitle issues which have been driving me mad. There are still significant problems though:

* Subtitle selection - the box around each option disappears almost instantly.
* Subtitles - it only finds the subs in the current folder. It needs to check .\subtitles as all other media players do. I don't want my media folders clogged up with subtitle files as well and I'm having to move them all just to make this box usable.
* It still doesn't respect hidden files and folders.
* That horrible black line at the top of the screen is still there whenever we do anything.
* Likewise that utterly pointless and inaccuarate network speed indication. Why?
* It still crashes from time to time, not regularly or when doing the same things but it happens.
* Menu button - media type should be per folder, not universal. I don't want to see folder.jpg listed in my video folders but don't want to select Video or my pictures won't show in their folder. Automating this ought to be dead easy.

On the plus side, the Shortcuts option is a useful stop-gap while we wait for you to allow us to map our video/music/pictures to the appropriate menu entries. If that's not going to happen for some time, could you at least move Shortcuts to the top of the list?

Oh well, it's getting there and hopefully it'll only be a few more months before it's out of the beta test phase. Honestly, I don't know how anyone could have considered releasing the Mini2 in the state it was in originally. They should be thoroughly ashamed.

just installed 5311 via safe mode and created a shortcut to my network movies folder on win server 2008 r2. every time i try to access the shortcut the message "logon successful" appears and after that the mini2 is rebooting.
accessing folder via filemanager works fine.

We don't have a Win server 2008 r2. to test with. Do you login/pw details for this share? If so, please remove these and share to 'Everyone' and see if this would be possible.

1 just flashed the new firmware on my yesterday bought mini 2 after i sold my mini 1 to my brother in law.

The User interface of the 3966 firware felt very slow compared to the 4824 on the mini 1
this new firmware feels acceptable, but unfortunately my harddisk is still scanning for files each time 1 connect him.
no big problem to me.

i have a request, maybe it's posible.

there are a lot of 3D movies in half-sbs ( side by side ) format available
most of this films come with external subtitles.
on a 3D TV there is an option to play this "side by side" movie as real 3D, but the subtitles on the Mini 2 are positioned straight in the middle of the 2 half screens.
Is it possible to split the subtitles also, so the movie can be played with subtitles on a 3D-TV ?
because the TV stretches the 2 half screens the letters should be a bit tiny also...

in addition to my previous request:

it is also enough ( i think ) to put the subtitle on one half of the screen, so positioning to the left or right half of the screen may be enough ( or do 1 get a transparent subtitle... i realy don't know )

i removed the login/pw check for this share (not as easy as it sounds ) and it works fine now.
however this is not the best solution since there are some security issues to consider.

Other things concerning shortcuts:

• it is no good that when leaving a selected shortcut with RETURN to go back to the original folder (Network, USB etc.) and not to the shortcut menue.
• The shout be an option to (re)name the shotcuts. There is a video folder on my server and my workstation, and one can not differentiate it in the shortcut list.
  Another possibility would be to place the origin in brackets after the shortcut-name

But the main improvements i was waiting for,are still not solved.......
1. the slow..slower..slowest....speed,when copying files using Wlan...
hey guys..it's wlan/n.....i can't understand why you are not able to
solve this major problem........?!?
2. a more comfortable webbrowser than the hidden one.....can't be so difficult to implement.....

All other bugs i noticed before, are solved....Good work !!
