Re: PlayonHD mini 2 and Ftp
You may try these utilities which include the Stupid FTP server. I could not check, however, if these utilities, which were originally written for the Mini 1, work on a Mini 2. If the total package does not work, you may be able to take out the FTP server and install that only. I am willing to provide assistance if you do not feel familiar with Telnet, Linux and the vi editor. Just let me know how you are progressing.

Re: PlayonHD mini 2 and Ftp
"All that work" is a one time installation and thereafter the FTP server remains available. I gave you my solution, but there may be better and easier solutions, which I do not know.

Re: PlayonHD mini 2 and Ftp
In my opinion it is about as difficult or simple as a firmware installation. If you know about FTP, you must have more than basic knowledge. Here is an Quote: Introduction to Telnet General Using Telnet (or PuTTY) is the only way to access the Playon’s flash memory and to issue commands to the Playon’s Linux operating system. Telnet requires a network connection between your PC and the Playon.
Starting Telnet from a Windows PC The Windows Telnet client can be enabled in the Windows features. In Windows XP select Run … from the menu Start and type telnet <IP address of your Playon> or telnet <Playon’s host name>, for example telnet 192.168.178.3 or telnet PlayonHD . In Windows Vista and Windows 7 type telnet <IP address of your Playon> or telnet <Playon’s host name> in the Search window of the menu Start. For example: telnet 192.168.178.3 or telnet PlayonHD .
Starting Telnet from a Linux PC Open a Telnet session in a terminal window by typing telnet <IP address of your Playon> or telnet <Playon’s host name>, for example telnet 192.168.178.3 or telnet PlayonHD .
Logging in to your Playon The login name for your Playon is root and a password is not required. This will give you direct access to the Playon’s Linux operating system. You can disregard the warning "cannot change to home directory", because you are already in the home directory of the system, which is identified by the prompt / #. The slash (/) indicates the root directory of the Playon’s file system (root folder for Windows’s users). The hash (#) indicates that you have root permission (administrator rights for Windows’s users). From here you can issue the appropriate commands to the operating system. Be careful not to make unwanted modifications to the system or accidentally delete or move files or directories. In case of errors the original firmware can be restored by reinstalling the firmware from a USB memory stick by the so called safe-mode flashing procedure. To quit when you have finished, type exit after the prompt. This will disconnect you from your Playon.

Re: PlayonHD mini 2 and Ftp
Just check my first reply to your initial question. Read the linked topic and proceed from there. If this does not work, I will provide a zip file with the Stupid FTP server only.
PuTTY should provide the same or similar features as Telnet, but I actually never used PuTTY.
