I have the same problem, when I browse my network, sometimes it works, but most times I don't see the Workgroup.

When I use the shortcut to my computer the acryan reboots after the message logon succesfull...

I'm very dissapointed...

What can we do to solve this problem? I have linux knowledge, so doing things thrue the telnet interface is no problem...

Are you sing a standalone NAS as well without any other devices in the network? Your issue sounds like a different one though if you can see the workgroup 'sometimes'.
In any case try reflashing firmware and switch cable and connect mini directly to router instead of having a switch inbetween and check if that changes anything.
Also try to use static ip addresses instead of DHCP.
The master browser issue is different, if there's no master browser such as a windows pc in the network the player and nas will have problems recognizing each others.

best regards,

Post Re: Can't find NAS/Workgroup and restarts using shortcuts
I'm not using a NAS, just a windows XP computer with file sharing enabled. My laptop can see the shares of this pc without a problem. The acryan is directly connected to my router and my pc also. The firmware of the acryan is up to date. I can connect to the acryan trough telnet and als ping my pc from the terminal. Services like youtube and shoutcast are working fine on the acryan.

But still from my point of view, whatever happens, the acryan may not crash. Is there anything I can debug? I don't know which command the acryan uses internally to mount the samba share and create a list of workgroups and devices...

We have released new beta. Can you check if you have the same issue there as alot of things have changed/improved: viewtopic.php?f=175&t=17211

Also make sure to take note of the known issues!

best regards,

Ok, I installed the beta firmware, which actually works pretty good for a beta.

I also did some research about the problems with samba shares.

The problem has to do with Master Browser.

My laptop uses winxp home, and i found out that the service Computer Browser was disabled, so the laptop didn't become master browser. When a master browser is on the network, for example master browser is enabled when samba in on in the beta firmware, everything works fine.

But I also had the problem that the laptop was not found. After doing a "net stop server" and a "net start server" the laptop can be found on the network.

If you want a look of the network and want to determine who is the master browser try http://scottiestech.info/download/LANscan_v1.3.zip .

Also take a look at this page about master browser: http://scottiestech.info/2009/02/14/how ... workgroup/

Hope this helps. ;)

Post Re: Can't find NAS/Workgroup and restarts using shortcuts
Hi,

I also have this issue. Decided to finally update the firmware (v9.5.5.r5440) because of the shortcut feature that was added and now appear to have lost the ability to go to Files Manager/Network/Workgroup and select my NAS. The weird thing is that I'm sure it was there after the initial upgrade, but lost it after trying to use Jukebox. I've since tried updating to the Beta firmware (v9.5.5.r6629) and still not available. Why has this facility gone?

If I use the Shortcut method you decribe it works but appears to takes ages (like a minute or two) for it to actually show Logon Successful and allow me to access the files. I've tried NFS option as well and enter IP address and folder name and it just returns "Failed" even though I have enabled NFS access on NAS and allowed Read/Write as default access.

This device seems to be going from bad to worse. Why can't this thing just work?

Update from my previous post.

I read the how to article on the e3000 router and noticed my workgroup name on my router was indeed "Workgroup" instead of "WORKGROUP". I made the change and gave the mini2 a couple of reboots and I now seem to be able to see it again.

Also the logon speed issue I mentioned appears to be related to my NAS being busy running a resync after power cut. Logon speed to the NAS now seems normal.
