Post Re: OSX 10.7 Lion upgraders beware
Hi guys
same problems here:
Lion, the Ac Ryan Mini 2 and I have to use NFS Manager to share my files.

It's working fine and even the streaming of super high quality movies is good.

BUT I am having a small issue and maybe you can help me.
I have shared a few folder of an usb HD and one folder of my Mac HD, the Download folder.
the folders on the USB Drive are perfect but the Download folder looks empty on the AC Ryan.
I can see the share and access it, but it seems empty.

Can You help me, please?

Thanks in advance
Max

Does the download folder have the correct permissions? Specially thinking about the read flag being set otherwise folders will show empty.

cheers,

I have tested both the read only set and unset and the Download folder is still empty.
Anyone with a good advice?

Thanks

Problem solved

just in case anyone has the same problem (folder full of movies that looks empty on the playon), you have to check BOTH the read only permission in NFS manager and the Operative sistem permission. in the OS you have to have everyone as read-only.

I just upgraded to the newest official Playonhd firmware.
Therefore my FTP client doesn't work because of Lion on my mac(though it did with the previous firmware)
Why is that?
I installed NFS manager...works fine for streaming to playonhd

Question, can I transfer movie files from my mac to playonhd using NFS manager?
How would I do that?

To transfer files from the mac to the playon you can use smb (samba).

Finder >Go> Connect to Server
Enter: smb:// your_ip_address and connect, you should see your shares

Edit You can connects as Guest

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to Alan and toondevet and all for posting this up.

Just upgraded to Lion today - that broke the connection to playonhd. Followed these exact instructions and everything is working A-OK.

Thanks again!

First of all lets go over the settings on the iMac:

When you open NFS manager, got to the share definitions (that's under the header NFS server). In the right screen you click on the + button.
Now you will see the name /Users underneath the header shared folders. Select this and click on the button select.
Now a finder screen will open. Just browse to the folder you want to share and select it. Click on the button select.
This you will have to do separate for all the folder you want to share.
Make sure the folders you want to share won't have a space in them. I had to change some names. For example I changed the name of the folder "NZB Downloads" to "NZBDownloads" This is because otherwise you won't be able to share them through NFS.

Now we need to enter the settings in the POHD

This is much easier than most think. Go to browser and than select NFS. IN this folder you have to press menu on the remote control. Select add.
In the popup screen you have to enter the IP-adress of the computer on which the shared folders are situated. And enter the name of the folder you shared. Don't put anything strange here. Only the name of the folder will do. For example:
NZBDownloads or NZBDownloads/complete. You won't have to enter the / in front of the first folder name. Only if there are subfolders you are sharing.
Repeat this for all the folders you want to share.

thnx to Alan :-)
