New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Dear All,
I bought my hd mini 2 2 weeks ago and had a problem with the sound not coming through. So I traded it for a new one and that worked perfectly until I did the update to the latest firmware and now I have no sound whatsoever.
Is anyone aware of this problem and has a way to solve the issue otherwise I need to trade it in again and I might start looking at another player, Because this is getting very irritating.

KR Onno Hi, what kind of setup do you use at home? Receiver / TV (models)? How are you connected? Via HDMi / SPDIF / Comp? the problem occured on your latest update to r4585 if i understand it right or did it happen to another one before ? br,

Re: New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Hi
After applying the latest official firmware I have now and then a blackout on sound AND/OR video. In all cases a reboot of the mini2 solved it (in 2 cases I had to pull the power cable to get it down).
Will try the beta firmware this weekend and see if it has the same problems.

Re: New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Hi Arne

Re: New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Hi, I'm having the same problem. No sound while enything playing. I found it is only with HDMI connection. The cable is good - I tried with another player. When I connect Mini 2 over cinch (RCA) connectors the sound is ok.
Unfortunately I don't know if it was on original fw working, cause I upgraded straight to r3966 and r4585 afterwards. So I can't figure out if it is device or fw related

Re: New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Hi,
we are unable to reproduce this with our units here so i assume this seems to be some kind of handshake issue with your TV models maybe?
You can try using another cable to test, use another connection than HDMI and also try to upgrade to the latest beta firmware in the safe-mode. In some cases it's usefull to do this twice. Does it happen to some certain file types or just in generel while using the player for example also while watching internet media based features like youtube?
cheers,

Re: New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Well in my case the FW is already the latest beta release. The tv is ok, because when I connect my old Mini it works without problem. So the cable is good. There's no sound for all the time, so for any media, radio, youtube, music, etc. As I said the connection through cinch works well. So I suppose it has to be hw problem. Going to exchange the box for another.

Did you try the different audio settings on the mini2 ? if there is no sound with different settings and you also tried a different cable i would indeed try to switch the player because it might be faulty hdmi port eventually. br,

Then, I decided to downgrade the fw to the initial fw release version r1731 before I return it back, and suddenly the audio is working without problem... So, the hw is ok and it is fw related issue. But what problem would it be, that appears to only someone and you're still unable to reproduce it? If it helps I use my Dell monitor (model 2408WFP) as a tv.

Re: New HD mini 2 after update with latest firmware no sound
Hi Kubus,
With SPDIF in passthrough mode (setup-audio-SPDIF) I have the same problem as you describe. With the older 2 firmware versions all was fine but with the latest FW release I didn't had sound when the HDMINI2 is powered up and movie starts playing. The work around with the new software is, start the movie, push setup on the remote. Go to Audio set SPDIF (if this is what you are using) from Passthrough to PCM, then exit setup. HDMINI2 is then playing the movie only in stereo sound. Go back into setup, change SPDIF from PCM to Passthrough, exit setup and you have digital sound. I haven't hooked up my set with HDMI so I'm not able to check if the same workaround works with HDMI.
Hope this helps.
Regards Robert.
