Post why .srt files are not found?
I newly purchased HD Mini2.
Can't see subtitles.
Of course file and .sub or .srt are in the same folder and have the same name.
More over it works with other hardware but not with HD Mini2.

I wouldn't know what to do to get it working. Only message I'm getting is 'No subtitles found'.
Now....is there a possibility to get help from A.C.Ryan??

Well, you must be doing something wrong.

I just tested on my Mini 2 running firmware r7317 as I was sure it was working.

I have a file "Safe (2012).avi" and a file "Safe (2012).srt" in the same folder and it recognises the subtitle file plays them and allows me to adjust size, colour etc.

So what have you done different to that?

Believe me... I did nothing else then that.
I had different device doing the job but limited to .AVI format only and that's why I've purchased HD mini2.
It's weird, I agree but I didn't do anything different. I have even tried to put the 2 single files xxx.AVI and xxx.SRT on a flash memory with nothing else on it then the 2 files without success.

What version of firmware are you using?

And are you using any funny characters in the filename?

Remember that the Mini2 is running Linux and is therefore case-sensitive. Maybe one of your files has a capital letter and the other doesn't? I always copy and paste the filename from the video file to the subtitle file, that way they have to be identical.

Any further testing or resolution on this?

I'm afraid not. I've tried all possibilities. In doubt about chars used I made copy&paste of xxx.AVI file into .SRT.
I have tried capital letters and lower case.
The point is that it works on other device and on TV but not on mini2.
I'll give up and next time I go to Singapore where I bought it I'll ask the shop to test it.
thx everybody anyway.

Easier than that, can you post a sample pair of .avi and .srt files so that one of us can download them and test them on our systems?

I just checked a .avi file (xvid encoded) with .srt subtitles and another (divx encoded) with .sub subtitles and they both worked (firmware r7317) so it's possible that your box has a problem but try updating to that firmware level and if it still doesn't work, upload your avi/srt pair and I'll test them here. (Rapidshare would be the best host for me).

Better yet, here is one of those file pairs so that at least you're testing with files that are known to work. (353MB)
Code:
https://rapidshare.com/files/1988390434/For_centofiori.zip

Let us know what happens.

You may have solved your problem already, i.e. the default setting for subtitles is OFF, so you need to set it to ON, but it is helpful to remember that when you update the firmware all your settings are reset to the default, so if you had Subtitles set to ON then it will be reset to OFF. You need to go into SETUP / MISC (or SYSTEM / MISC not sure which) and set it back to ON. Then you will find the subtitle file/s accessible from the Subtitle button on the remote.

You mentioned they worked on your TV. You're not using DLNA or UPNP are you?
