Post [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r7317
Hello Playon!HD2 owners!

We are happy to announce our new Official firmware v9.5.3.r7317!
Below you will find links to download this new firmware together with the change log and instructions on how to install this firmware.

Update - 07-02-2012: We have replaced this firmware v9.5.3.r7317 with a new revision that fixes the Thumbnail view (distorted image) issue, so you can view your folders with 'Thumbnail view'. If you with your remote control go to 'Setup > Misc > Version info' and check the 'Compiled at' date. If it does not say: Feb 07 - 2012 - you will not have the updated version. Simply re-download and flash this firmware again to have this fixed.

Thanks to our development team for this quick fix!

Two long standing problems I have noticed that still exist in this new firmware:

1) If I pause something I am watching ie. a tv show that I have transferred to the internal hard drive, resuming the show still occasionally results in no audio. If I leave the video playing, sometimes the video comes to a stop and requires I rewind a little and it will resume and re-sync the audio.

2) With some but not all, clicking on a jpeg image in a shared network folder results in the Playon!HD2 displaying a black screen then locking solid. The unit doesn't respond to the remote control and pushing the power button on the front of the Playon!HD2 does nothing either. I have to pull the power cord out at the back to start the unit up again. The images display just fine in Windows 7 with at least 3 image handlers.

I haven't had time to test anything else but I was hoping these issues would be fixed by now.

Post Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r7317
I am very sad. I bought a WD 3TB MyBookEssential External HDD.
It's a 3.0USB one. It's ok and go to sleep, when I turn off.

The other two HDDs is USB2.0. When I turn off the HD2, it doesn't go to sleep (suspend), and I have to turn off it during active HDD. It's not too healthy. So my other to two external HDDs do the same.

When HD2 still works and I unplug USB cable of the external HDDs, they go sleep. (After then I can turn off the suspended HDDs's case.)

When I eject HDDs, I think the HDDs should go suspend. After ejecting, nothing happends. I think the HDD should go to sleep.

So I have to use the r4585
... or always unplug the HDDs during working, without EJECT.

Why does it work and go suspend with r4585 firm???
Could somebody check the difference?
Maybe when HD2 turn off doesn't send "shutdown command" ... ?
Is it USB2.0 compatibility problem???

Any idea??? Thanks.

You just flash with the previous firmware in safe mode like you would this version.

The iso file fast forward bug where fast forwarding at over 2x results in chapter skipping is still present in this latest firmware.

Subtitles in bluray iso files still not working proper.

Yep, thumbnail browsing bug is still not fixed, but it is not mentioned in the change history either.

Please try again using a freshly formatted drive and use recovery way of installation. Sorry for any inconvenience.
