If I use the same cable with AC Ryan problems are coming up. Now has to be clarified, wheter a hardware or software problem by AC Ryan. Quote: The USB 3.0 spec does not detail a maximum cable length, but 3.0 meters or 9.8 feet has been recommended. See http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-things-you-should-know-about-usb-20-and-30/1265 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB. FYI the maximum length for a USB 2.0 cable is 5 metres. So I think a 6 m. (extension) cable is just too long and your original problem is not a fault of the AC Ryan hardware and/or software. You are lucky that your docking station is rather tolerant.

BR. I have two 3 meters usb 3.0 cables, only one of them works with the Ryan. Either the Ryan or the cables are not up to standard specs. Cables works fine on other hardware.

The Playons may be sensitive, but not necessarily sub standard. The quality of cables also varies. It may be a combination of two critical factors. On the forum you can also find problems with LAN and HDMI cables which were seemingly OK with other devices but did not work with the Playon.

USB 3.0 worked always fine, but with this firmware it won't work anymore. Tryed 2 cables, but nothing works anymore. Same cable do work in USB 2.0. Firmware issue? Greetz, Hans

 Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD2_v9.5.3.r6629 - 2TB HDD Delete
Whilst i thought the new firmware was working faster etc. i was very dissapointed when i switched the unit off and on a bit later to find my HDD screwed? It was constantly reporting no HDD and even when connected via USB3 it required formatting to use. OVER 1TB OF DATA GONE FOREVER!!! I thought this firmware was going to be better? whilst i will try to support it i may be discouraged if my HDD is screwed each time. Yes i have removed it now and reflashed again. Drive formatted through pc connection via USB3 so lets go see what the story is now

 Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r6629 - BUGGED :(
I really should have been a beta tester!
Within minutes i had detected a few bugs, here they are:
[1] When using onscreen keyboard and selecting symbols you are stuck with them and no way of getting back to letters. (the work around is to accept your name then select it from the list and edit it, this gives you the alphabet letters again)
[2] Once you select thumbnails for music albums the system crashes and goes into a re-boot cycle and the only way round it for me was to reflash the firmware.
[3] Hdd data all corrupted with constant message about re-formatting even when connected to pc it was not accessible until formatted. This was after flashing successfully then switched off and back on!
I HAVE DECIDED TO REVERT BACK TO r5440, At least i can handle that version for now. Sorry guys this release is not for me even though it had improvements and was faster its just not stable enough.
Regards, Steve...

 Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r6629
I agree, not stable enough! I went back to the older firmware as soon as the reboot loop occurred! this reminded me of the earlier firmwares! It wasn't worth releasing as beta as it sounds like this firmware has screwed some users data etc! I hope this is on topic enough not to have my message removed again! merry x-mas to ACR! I'm guessing there all at home now celebrating xmas! lets hope 2012 will bring some good revisions and more stable scanning!

Was the beta r6629 actually Tested???
Could i possibly ask AC Ryan if this release was indeed beta tested? I ask this because within minutes of upgrading i noticed 3 bugs immediately !!! which brings me to the conclusion "No it was not beta tested prior to release!" WAS IT? I know you guys get some real stick over errors with firmware but you don't help yourselfs really do you? Some of these bugs are staring you in the face but no one sees them? The thumbnail nail issue when viewing music was obvious, the special characters on the keyboard not reverting back to letters when the correct button was pressed was obvious. These errors would have been spotted easily if the firmware was beta tested prior to release. Heavy Sigh Steve. Merry Xmas
