Hi mikael,

I am currently exploring POHD2 and being a MACOSX user would like the internal disk on HFS+ so that I can read/and write. Further I have optware installed on the POHD2 and playing around with the system.

I installed r7716 because of the updated NTFS driver.

Is this NTFS or ufsd because when I look at the system it displays this:
/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 on /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1 type ufsd (rw,nodiratime,nls=utf8,uid=0,gid=0,fmask=0,dmask=0,nocase,force)

Now type ufsd is the paragon universal file system drivers cable of read/write to file systems
including HFS+

I was able under the previous release to read and write to the internal disk completely formatted to HFS+ however on one occasion when reconnecting the POHD2 to my Imac it came with a disk error and had to reformat the POHD2 internal disk. It is possible that the problem was or still is with OSX.

On release r7716 I did a standard format on the internal the disk, then reformatted the Windows NTFS section to HFS+

I am able to read and write through HFS+ via NSF(optware) and also connect the POHD2 to the Mac and read/write file only on USB 2.0.
On reboot also no message to reformat the internal disk .

I can scan the drive and create the music/movie data library.

so can you elaborate on this "New / Updated NTFS driver"

I will continue testing using NFS+ and inform you however as I don't have a standard configuration I have to be careful of my observations.

Hey jr_mac_ryan,

Thanks for the feedback / update.

If you format the internal hard drives main partition to +HFS and it still works with all the features? Then this is naturally just good. I'm not able to tell you if your previous hard drive issue has to do with OSX or in particular your hard drive or our previous NTFS driver. Since you are using +HFS as internal hard drive partition, I'm sure you might have differentialities in your 'testing enviroment' from those who use NTFS as we recommend and also test with.

It seems to work for you now, and let us know if something new would come up.

Regarding the NTFS update in this beta release. It's basically a updated NTFS driver from the software company that provides NTFS drivers to Realtek - from Paragon software. They updated the NTFS driver to a new version that should work better / more stable, and all our tests at this point indicate that this is the case. Part from that, we have no details more than our own results when testing this new drivers which are more stable and secure.

BUG: The rebooting bug is still present. Deleting the ".Theatre" folder on any USB device be it a Flash drive or USB External SATA drive (2TB), it still reboots.

I have flashed the firmware using the SAFE METHOD not an upgrade.

This is now becoming very tiresome and needs to be fixed ASAP. It's unusable until this is fixed.

I thought the new NTFS driver may fix it, perhaps down to an incompatibility issue, but it's still there.

Please fix ASAP. Please!

Do we know what's causing the reboot loop?

As for the last two updates (including last beta) I have had this problem the second it gets turned on? It used to happen on previous versions but got better for 5540.

I also wonder if the database i have constructed under 5540 is compatible with these newer firmwares? as when i revert back its ok again, on these newer versions its not?

I could try deleting the database and letting it rescan using the newer firmwares but i would like some input from the ACR team?

Hey,

This is a systemcreated 'dump' file.
Run the 'Setup:System:Scan HDD for errors' and then try to delete the file. If not possible connect your HD2 to your laptop/PC and manually delete the file. This file does no harm to your Playon!HD2 or hdd.

Q: Have you ever formatted the internal hard drive in the Playon!HD2? If you have, then you don't need to format your hard drive.

Hello,

We are not able to reproduce this.

We have usb-sticks and drives with media content, then turn the autoscan on and reboot, let the player scan and create the .theater folder from scratch and removed the .Theater folder with 'Setup:System:Clear history' + over WIndows 7 (SMB) to external usb-stick and manually remove the .Theater folder.

None of the above rebooted the device. Any further details on how to reproduce your issue would be helpful.

Hello,

The reboot loop has nothing to do with the NTFS handling. (As far as we know right now)

What we do know is that this reboot issue is related to the scanning / creation of the database file in certain files and / or structure enviroments. We have generated 1x enviroment in our internal testing that will 100% reproduce the reboot + scanning related issue. I personally think it has to do with certain files (picture files) + structures (how your folders and subfolders are stucruted) that causes the database to be currupt ...

Until we have a source of the problem / a 100% fix we can't be sure. But our engineers have received our crash reports and a lot of feedback from our costumers who have sent in reports.

Thanks for your feedback, but this is still a issue to solve. In most cases you can delete the .Theater folder and rescan with success. In some cases you will not and then you are forced to either remove your pictures / change your structure of your folders and files or disable the scanning function until this is sorted 100%, and acces your files quick with the use of 'Shortcuts' as a quick workaround.

If you have a .Theater folder from a previous firmware they will be compatible with other firwmare releases if they are not having this particular issues that I've mentioned above = corrupted database.
