Thanks for your feedback, appreciate it! At least you're still working on it in the background. I hope you'll be able to release a working version in the near future.

Mikael wrote: Hello everyone,
We have solved a lot of the mentioned issues, and have received several different internal testing versions for the Playon!HD 2 and Mini2. However we are having some issues with solving the reboot issues that directly connected to the 'scanning/indexing' process, and we don't want to release a new version when this is still present. Therefore it's taking longer time to release the next version than expected.
We are still working on this products firmware, but also our other products, and we have not stopped developing for this or our first Playon! series. We just want to solve the reported issues before releasing a new firmware.
All the subtitle related issues, and a lot of the stability issues are already sorted.
Br, Thanks for the feedback. Though I would rather see you report on progress before people are going to ask for it. But nontheless I'm pleased that many issues have been sorted and I look forward to the release of the new firmware. Please, keep us posted... Gr. Michael

As above when they have solved the re-boot issues! Which could be ages. We'll just have to wait as they cannot give a forecast yet of when.

Thank you for the reply. I like many other's a probably thinking FINALLY some insight to what we can expect in the new release. AC Ryan should be making this information more accesable to customers, it would certanly stop so much of the frustartion, and It shouldn't be the customers responsibility to keep asking these quiestions when the product the bought has so many flaws.
I look forward to the release of the new firmware. I really hope it's no longer a sluggish experience, with terribe boot times, scan times, etc, And hopefully I can justify vthe bux spent on this box.
It really is a shame that AC Ryan are not releasing what you have already fixed, whilst you continue to address the rebooting issue. That would certanly make a lot of very disgruntled customers happy, whilst other issues continue to get worked on.

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
Copied and edited from beta thread, so that its more relevant.
I think this is the 20th time i have had to do rescan the harddisk! and I admit i was wrong about 5540. This afternoon i added 3 new albums to the HD2, on one of them i renamed the folder once transferred. I went to make a cuppa tea and when i got back it was rebooting again!!!!! I reinstalled 5540, still did it, i deleted the two files and folder... still did it! I ended up doing yet the 100th checkdisc, then turned on the scanning feature and its been left going! hopefully it will finish sometime over night!
What is being done about this? There are no guidelines on specific file structures, no definite mp3 format/tagging format, not that there should be but at least if we knew what caused their machines to crash we could try it? I don't mind helping but ACR have not really made any come back to these comments in a while now? could we have an honest answer?
Update: 5 hours into scan and its asking for a file check! did this! why is it asking again? I have had to delete the theater folder do another file check and start again!!
Question, when a new scan starts from scratch why does the unit start scanning right in the middle of the file structure? it does not start at A and end at Z, it doesn't start at folder A then scan A-Z, then folder B and A-Z within it goes to folder B and scans from M? not very systematic really? is it?
update: left overnight, turned on TV - No signal! i cannot get the ACR to come up on TV so had to pull the power! Turned back on and it booted up, no hard disk appeared, it then rebooted!
I'm on the verge of throwing this thing across the room! It's weird as 5540 was working perfectly for me for months until now! making me wonder why? is it just crappy hardware that contributes to half the issues! Like i say this felt fairly stable until yesterday!
I have just tried copying an old db file and part file and then restarting, it actually got further than it did before! it loaded up and started scanning! it then after 5 minutes restarted and started scanning again! I was thinking it may be ok... but after another 5 minutes its gone into a continuous reboot loop!
starting to wonder why I bothering on this forum! HELLO, I ANYONE THERE.........I TRYING TO HELP ACR HERE BUT GET NOTHING BACK, NOT EVEN ANY THANKS OR COMMENT!

The scan option is still buggy in all fw and players with sdk 4.x
So far realtek has not resolved the problem that when you have a big hdd and lots of file the scanning gets corrupted or the player gets slow

 Re: [Official] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r5440
what would you class as big?
As On 5440 I was able to construct a large db for mp3s (120GB) (db file was around 30MB), but like i said this went wrong the other day and now it wont rebuild it. It may attempt on this firmware but fails within an hour or less. The lastest beta doesnt even really get going so I wonder what the difference is and why its got worse?
It also makes me wonder if its hardware? seeing as i could construct a db and now I can't using the same firmware!
I also wonder if a program can be written for windows to build a db file when plugged in as a mass storage? This would at least build the inital files and do it quicker? but i guess ACR wouldnt want to do that?
I had tried to extract a db file back in December and then add it back, although it took for a minute or two, it too ended up causing the reboot loop! in theroy though i would have thought if you copyied it off the HDD you should be able to put it back again? if the original fails? This could also be implemented? (back up file on ACR)
