Pfff!! I skipped the previous 2 firmwares because of the troubles....

Now i succesfully flashed to this version
I am getting the you need to format your HDD before you can use it!~Damn guys how hard is it to get it right?

If i press cancel everything is ok and can play stuff from that same HDD... Geez, now what?

Also i'm having netwerk issues. Only directly connected to my PC with a cable streaming seems to work. Via my router or switch no such luck! Playon reboots then....

I have a question about upgrading the firmware. I am buying my Playon today and was wondering:

1. Do I upgrade the firmware immediately? Before formatting the HDD, etc?

2. In this thread the instructions specidy that the Safe method is recommended, but in all previous firmware releases, the Normal method was recommended. Why was the methodology changed, and which method should I really be doing?

Thanks a lot!

You can disable the format HDD Prompt popup in SETUP -> MISC -> FORMAT HDD PROMPT
Once switched off you will no longer be asked to format your hdd inside the player.

For your network issues: please see your router config if there's any firewalls running or ips you need to add. There shouldn't be any issues from the players side regarding streaming over the network.

1. If you buy your player new we would recommend you to first update the firmware and afterwards after the reboot you will be asked to format the HDD. Accept that and wait till the hdd is formatted and the player reboots one more time. After that you can use your player as usual.

2. we usually always recommend people to use safe-flash method to avoid any problems in the upgrade process. The safe-mode flash will 'cleanly' install the system once again instead of just updating it. Of course you can use the menu option to update but in some cases some of the system files/services don't seem to get updated properly. So if you use the menu-update option and run into any problems afterwards please be advised to flash one more time in safe-mode!

cheers,

Can not install update r3966.

I'm trying to update from r2988 to r3966 using the safe-mode method.
1. Installation start and goes trough and "Install completed" is displayed.
2. Unit reboots and PLAYON! splash is displayed and nothing more happens.
3. After waiting more then 30min nothing still happens just the same splash.

If I reinstall the r2988 the unit works as normal.
Now I have tried to install the r3966 3 times with the same result. The last time I removed the HDD before installing the r3966 but with same result, the unit freezes on the splash screen.

Player model: ACR-PV73700.

Safe flash to 2988 without hdd
Then safe flash to 3966

if that doesn't work try Safe flash to 2988 and then normal flash to 3966

Without hdd if it works put back in the hdd
