Flashing Procedures:
Two methods to flash the firmware to your Playon!HD2

Normal flashing procedure (Recommended):
1. Copy install.img to the root directory of a USB flash drive and connect it to any USB host port of the
unit.
2. Enter the Setup menu, System, USB Upgrade and Enter to confirm.
3. The firmware update will start flashing on your display in a moment and will automatically reboot when
update is completed

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**


Safe-mode flashing procedure:
1. Copy install.img to the root directory of a USB flash drive and connect it to any USB host port of the
unit.
2. Switch off the main power to the unit.
3. Press and hold on to the power button on the front panel of the unit.
4. Switch on the main power.
5. Release the power button when the firmware update starts flashing on your display in a moment and
will automatically reboot when update is completed.

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**

Update went wel. First time that i updated there was no change.
Tried again and i got the update screen.
Version number dsiplayed 0.0.1 (Strange)

No problems with formating the HD after update

@Razor, mines fine at the moment

But I am having 2 problems.

1, When connecting HD2 to PC via USB port screen flashes up with a message like the old one, but I don't get a chance to choose an option. But is the screen supposed to be blank ?? As HD1 had the logo on the screen while connected.

2, When disconnecting the HD2 from USB the HD2 boots up but only shows part of the menu 'recently added music' and I have to shut the HD2 down and then boot back up to get full menu.

My problem with reboot loop is still there.
Playon!HD logo --> black screen --> HDD scan --> black screen --> Main menu for a few seconds --> boot --> and then all over again.
Sometimes i can go quickly to a submenu and the player does nog reboot again. When i go back to mainmenu --> reboot --> loop.

Please help me with this problem. I can't use the player from the start i have it.

I have solved the problem myself.
I scan all files and maps who had long names on the Internal HDD
Maked them shorter and now the player doesn't boot anymore.
So, it boots when a filename of mapname is to long of strange characters.

Problem solved

I was too quick....
1. FW did not install at all the first time... I followed the upgrade procedure (normal), but after booting the old fw turned up again (version check under div settings). Checked the USB card but its ok.... fat 32 and the img is on it.... Strange!

Doing a second try right now.... Unzipped Firmware_PV73700_v9.5.3.r2073.zip all fine. File size of install.img is 116.572 kb and date is 25/2/2011. Copied the install.img to the USB key. Entered USB key in USB slot on POHD2. Selected USB upgrade from menu, strange version question:

New version: 0.0.1

???? Chose ok. Screen turns black..... Installation started... the blue screen. Did not see that the first time... Now it does so I expect it to go fine.... Do not turn off the power.... Ok, I'll be gentle.
Install completed. Rebooting... Engage your senses shows up. A blue / pink round button shows.... Ahh, the main screen pops up.

Arrrrhhhh, a message You need to format your new hdd before you can use it. No way, there is 1.3 TB of movies, music and photo's on it... Cancel... let's hope you guys did not switch commands here.. Ok, you did not. Strange and dangerous message though, unneeded.

Checking settings firmware version... V9.5.3 r2073. Seems ok now....

2. Long filename issue; had the same issue due to Media Monkey filename rename action (grrrr). Fixed the issue by renaming those fn's that were incredibly long.

3. Connecting POHD2 to PC: turn of the POHD2, connect the USB cable between POHD2 and PC / Laptop (use blue entry on POHD2) . Turn on POHD2, HDD will apear in Explorer, the bootup logo (Engage....) will remain on the TV Screen.

Hmmm, seems to be a very marginal fw update. Bftpd is working, minor fix moving the ftpdpasswd file and adjusting the bftpd.conf (1 min job).

I keep getting the HDD needs to be formated message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do I get rid of it? Quite dangerous having 3 kids running around and selecting their movies....
What's the use of this? I'm not gonna format my 2 TB HDD with 1.3 TB of important data on it.

No updates for the Movies, Music and Photo menu options. Still no good jukebox feature for the Music?
Disappointing... GUI 2.0 looks better but its functionality improved marginally.

You forgot to mention the fix for buddy link (Internet media). In the previous fw I could not enter the config specs, now I can.

will update my pohd2 when i get back from work this afternoon.
