 Internal Hdd question.
I have ordered the HD2 and am eagerly awaiting its arrival.
Am planning to get a Caviar Green 750 GB SATA-3 Harddisk, and hopefully get rid of the fan. I am assuming the fan is only necessary for hdd cooling, and not for any HD2 components. I have USB3 on the pc, but am not sure if the HD2 needs to be self-powered when used as a client drive. The manual is less than helpful in these particular details, for example: P64 Eng. Manual - ...This might be due to the player shutting down (due to low battery power) while reading or writing to your computer by the USB connection. I guess they mean low battery in a laptop? The way it is written makes it seem like the HD2 has an internal battery.
So to sum up, can I just connect the usb 3 to the pc, without any external power to the HD2?

 Re: Internal Hdd question.
Yes you can use the drive directly to the PC but I'll make the following points from my own experience:-
USB 3 is overkill once connected to the player 750Gb is too small

Ok, thanks for that... the last thing i need is JAPSU. Why overkill? It makes a massive difference to transfer speeds, compared to usb2.

 Re: Internal Hdd question.
The HD2 has no internal battery and must be powered for the internal hard drive to be used as a USB drive of your PC. If your PC has USB 3, you will benefit from the higher speed.

 Re: Internal Hdd question.
Right, an internal bat seemed too good... Have just been reading that the caviar greens have an 'intellipark' feature, which by default parks the heads after (default) 8 sec inactivity. Anyone know how the HD2 would handle this?

Sure, you would get speed improvement when connected to your PC but nothing extra when connected to your player which is only USB2. iBeta wrote: Ok, thanks for that... the last thing i need is JAPSU. Why overkill? It makes a massive difference to transfer speeds, compared to usb2.
