Post Windows 7 problem
Hi,

Just bough a ACRyan Playon!HD and put 1TB disk into it. The disk has been formated and is accessable outside of the playon HD box. When i put the disk into the Playon HD box and try to assign a drive letter to the disk I get the following error from the Disk Manager in Windows 7, 64 bit home edition.

"The operation failed to complete becaus the Disk Management console view is not up to date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persist clos the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer."

I have done both.

I have also trye to delete the partition and create it again but it's not working. What could be the problem with the box.

a little confused here,
do you make a partition and format the drive,
that you want to build in the playonHD on a wndows 7 machine?

if so ? Don`t.

just remove all partitions on the drive with windows again,
then build the drive in the PlayonHD,
connect the playonhd to your television,
and switch on the player( don`t attach the player to the PC now)
during start up there will be a message that the drive needs to be formated.
allow this and let the playonHD format the drive itself.

if for some reason the Playonhd does not come with this message,
then after the player is started go to ,
setup>>misc>>format HDD

and perform the drive format through the setup menu.

and please do let us know which player exactly it is that you have,
best would be it`s PV number like PV73100 or PV73700 or PV76120?
and which firmware? look for that here setup>>misc>>version (out of my head this one,
but it is something like system version or so ;) )

;)

Hi,

The type of the box is PV73100 version v7.4.4.r5440. I have deleted the partition from the disk in windows and put the disk unformated into the box. I do not get the message about formating the disk when i start the box connected to TV. If I try to format the disk through the menu i go to system -> format -> there i'm asked for password (0000) and then i get a "menu" that says format disk but no option of yes / no and am therefore not able to create a partition through the box.

Decided to try and upgrade the firmware again just in case. There where no change, I'm still unable to format the drive through the box and because of that the box is useless to me. I'm honestly getting very frustrated because of this.

you just need to select "format drive"
and it should start formating or somehow
one of the cables inside is not well suited,
or exchange the SATA cable by an other to see if that one is faulty,
set the drive jumper to CS (cable select) on the drive.

;)

Well, the problem is fixed. Took the box to the reseller and he formated the drive through the box for me. I have no idea what the problem was but it is fixed.
