No luck. I tried sleep 30, 60 and 90. In all cases the option stays "off". Any other suggestions?

The option in the menu itself will always show the status 'off' even if the server is running. So to check if it's working try accessing the UPnP server with your phone or tablet or other device.

cheers,

In the latest beta firmware r6629 the telnet function has been disabled. We will make this available again in the next update. Until than if you need telnet you can use r5440 and once connected to your network you should be able to access it via telnet.
Also make sure to select telnet protocol in putty and not 'ssh' which is selected by default i believe. SSH and telnet use different ports.

Post Re: [HOW-TO] Automatically Start the UPnP Server
Hi there,

I have tried the suggested solution (edit the rcS file) in order to automatically start the UPnP server. Goal is to have the default setting of the UPnP Server "ON" instead of "OFF". Unfortunately with the suggested solution the opposite happens: default UPnP server is set on "OFF" and can not even be set to " ON". And on my iPhone I can not spot the UPnP Server. What is going wrong?

Next to that the BUZZ App (a media player) on my iPhone is asking for a logincode and password when I am trying the enter the SAMBA Server of the PlayonHD2. I have no clue which login and password is required here. Does anyone knows which login-password to use?
Can somebody help me in the 2 issues? My goal is to stream music of the PlayonHD2 on my iPhone in my home network via the UPnP Server and/or SAMBA Server (SMB) of the PlayonHD2.

Thanks for solving my headache!

Regards,

Erwin

When you are using the script you're bypassing the menu and therefore not updating the menu.
The process is probably running and can not be reactivated.

You can check from the PlayonHD2 to see if the server is running
Goto FilesManger ->Upnp ->PlayonHD2
If the sever is running the PlayonHD2 should be visible and any other Upnp servers that are on the network.
For the playonHD2 you should see PC Directory ->media-> HDD or Card or USB

If above is working it should be visible on the iPhone

For the iPhone you can also install Imedia from Sitecom(Free app) and check if the Upnp is recognized there , else reinstall the BuzzApp

Can you login as guest, otherwise try using root no password

Hi,

UPnP: OK!
Thanks; UPnP is working okay now (sometime a bit unstable). Extending the sleep time from 60 to 90 was the key to success (and some patience). Also Imedia control was a good advice. Much more user friendly then BUZZ.

SMB: not ok (yet)!
I have tried to log in as guest and used the suggested passwords, but I still do not get access to the SAMBA server. More brilliant ideas here? Access from the iPhone to my laptop via SMB works by the way.

Thanks again!

Regards,

Erwin
