Post will Playon!HD2 scan subdirectories in music folder?
ITunes insists on making subdirectories when I move the media folder to the NAS - will all the tracks still come up under music?

The Playon!HD can only scan from local media by default. So if you move folders to the NAS it will not recognize those unless you mount em somehow.

If you move the itunes library to the Playon!HD itself it doesn't matter where you move it. It will scan the whole HDD anyways. You can for example move the /itunes folder into the root of the HDD.

cheers,

Sorry by 'NAS' I meant the internal drive of the Playon!HD2...

iTunes has put my music in the following location when I told it to move the media to the HDD in the Playon!HD2

hdd1>music>music>artist (there are multiple artist folders)

Nothing is showing up when I select music in the main menu... It has been restarted several times and I have it set to automatically scan.

Alright if the structures are so deep than try moving it up.
For example instead of using music/music/ just move the /artists/ directory into the root. Also please check what kind of files are in those directories. The music library can only handle correctly tagged mp3 files.
If you want to retag them you could use mp3tag which comes free and is available for download here:

Yes you can. It will not affect your files.

I have mine set up as below

Music/Artist albums/A-C/Artisit/Name of Album
Music/complilation album/A-C/Complilation group (i.e. Clubland albums)/Name of album.

So two main folders! this used to work with no problems until recent issues i have been having which I have now given up with! due to lack of support

Make sure you leave it for some time to scan (if you can get it to scan) and wait for the scanning message to completely dissappear (this can take hours and hours depending on how big your music collection is!
