Post Playon!DVR-HD 2??
Hi Guys,

I have just come accross the Playon!DVR-HD and think it looks great. But I believe there will be a Playon!DVR-HD 2 coming out very soon. Does anyone have any details on when this might be released?

I would much prefer to wait rather than buying the older model!!

At this point there is no indication weather and/or when a DVR2 Model will come.

best regards,

But what about the review done at CEBIT 2011 back in March this year?

Love that youtube clip! Paula Stevenson at least is easy on the eye and has a great personality.

Excuse me, did she say the GUI 2.0 was user-friendly?
:?:
As to the reply from ACR on this thread - read this as "yes go out and buy the current model!" (ACR - gotta help my retailers)

No point allowing customers to keep their hard-earned for a while because there's a new model on it's way. This is a classic business dilemma - too much talk of a new model will start a buyers strike, we can't have that! .

Hmm it is a shame, don't really know what to do now!!!

On a side note, youRjokinMan, good to see another aussie on the forums, i'm from SA.
What are you thoughts on this product, how does it work with Australian TV etc?
I am currently using Windows 7 Media Centre but feel like a change as there are a few bugs with it atm.

From what i have read, it seems to do everything you want it to. The GUI 2.0 looks good, but your saying its not...?

Cheers
Peter

cojaxx,

plenty of Aussies here, mate. (and formerly of here, having taken their POHD back to the retailer or whacked it in landfill).

The POHD certainly has bugs but it's trying to get there.
Firmware upgrades address some of the issues and they come out irregularly.

I have not flashed to the latest Release Candidate version as it has not been that well received on this forum.

The machine is based on a Realtek chip which a number of manufacturers are playing around with. I have a feeling it's hard for them to achieve much, or at least they are all wanting to work on the next model, and we who have already parted with the cash aren't really of much interest to them

Having said that at least AC Ryan have this forum (as do others) and I think they do monitor the forum and have some intentions to respond to the issues raised.

I don't regret buying the box, but I expect that a new box will be released in a little while (from someone) that will be a guantum-leap better. These pieces of electro-junk from China have a use-life of about 2-3 years anyway. We'll probably need to replace everything when the NBN is up, as speed will be everywhere and did I say the AC Ryan POHD was slow? Slowest thing I've ever seen - as far as screen response, remote control, file transfers. But don't get me started there would be 30 significant shortcomings.....

Hmm your concerns are worrying. Like you said when you buy something you expect it to perform reasonability well. What you’re saying it is not quite there yet. Perhaps the POHD2 may fix the known bugs in the system you are talking about.

Thanks for the feedback. Will persist with the windows 7 media centre for the moment :)
