Hi .. I ordered the HD mini2 last night for delivery next week.

Anyone else ordered or any first impressions?

Hi Arnold12,
is this from personal experience? I am curious, whats wrong with it?

I might just buy one just to be able to 'evolve' with it :-)

Any others that have touched the mini2?

Post Re: Ordered the Mini2
I bought the mini2 as soon as it was out. Had it running for a few weeks now... overall I am very happy with it. It plays everything I've tried (DVD ISO, VOB, mkv, xvid, divx etc) DVD ISO playback is flawless & am quite impresseed with that. I haven't tried a true Bluray rip yet but am sure it will be fine.

There are some quirks like uPnP doesn't seem to work 100% (starts playing move then skips to another one).

My only real gripe is the 'Movies' link on the main screen, for some reason unknown to man nor beast you can't set that to open your NAS share directly, which is utterly stupid .. but there you go...

Overall 8.5/10 & no regrets in buying it & that score will go up if they fix the above.

Hi djbob,

i tend to find your impressions a little more founded than Arnold12's.
Still on the fence though, Fluxx or mini2. My life's full of hard choices ;-)

Cheers,

HS

If you're thinking about streaming from a NAS, buy whatever you want as long as it's not AC Ryan.
But if you plan on using local media such as a USB drive, then you'll "probably" not go insane. ;)

It's saving grace is that it actually plays pretty much anything you throw at it.
That's it.

The Fluxx could prove itself to be a very competent player.
A find it a bit too expensive since:
* Xtreamer Ultra came along
* You're stuck with AC Ryan firmware.

If it could run XBMC or Boxee then it would just be a matter of hardware/design preferences.

I'm perfectly happy streaming from a NAS onto the Mini with YAMJ
Works well for me and did take a little sorting out but I'm happy with it :)
