Can some1 provide me with a step buy step guide to setup file sharing between my Playon Essentail and my PC wich the OS is XP.

First of all we would like you to know that the player was not supporting network connections by default. The wireless connectivity of the set was introduced and meant to play or stream internet radio wirelessly. Transferring of the files can work but NOT the actual local network media streaming.

PC side:

1. Turn on the Guest account on your PC.
Click on Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Turn on Guest Account

2. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP
Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections

3.Right click on Local Area Connection and choose Properties

(Please choose Wireless Network Connection if you are configuring for Wireless Setup)

4. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties -> Advanced… -> WINS tab

5. Select Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP -> OK and close all open properties pages

Setting up a shared folder on your PC

1. Right click on the folder in your computer that contains your media for sharing on the network, and select
Sharing and Security…

2. Click on Share this folder on the network -> OK


Player side:

1. Connect the player to the same network as your PC.
2. Turn on Samba service under the player network setup.

In layman’s terms

I can copy files from my PC to Playon and vice versa but i wont be able to watch on the Playon if it still on my PC.

I will have to transfer it to the PC?
