Re: Can't get the POHS Essential to see my shares
I've tried everything in the above topic you refered me to, still noting. I've noticed that every one mentions seeing there workgroup..... I dont even see the workgroup under "filemanager\network" its just blank. But I have a defenate connection to the router because the POHD has an IP address under its network settings and i can ping it from the Win 7 pc. Did i do something wrong with the setting up of the WIFI dongle?

Hi,
in this case please try reflashing the firmware in safe mode. It might be that the actual samba service wasnt installed correctly. A safe re-flash should fix this problem as long as you have the correct settings in windows and on your router. As you said you can ping the device so its definately connected to the network. That you cannot see the workgroup usually is related to a faulty extension like samba.
* 1. Download and extract the .zip file into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32. * 2. Insert the USB-stick to your player. * 3. Shut down the player, leave it on stand by. * 4. Hold down the power button, and when you see the A.C Ryan logo on your TV, count to 15 seconds and release the power button. * 5. Your player will restart and install the new firmware.
In some rare cases we had to install the firmware more than 1 time until it worked. We think this might be related to the USB sticks that are not 100% compatible for some reason. So if you have another USB stick at hand please try also different sticks while flashing.
regards,
