DTS and DD5.1 via Optical plug and some other things
Gents,
I just got the Essential HD with firmware 5.0.4r697.
I connected the TV via HDMI and my Yamaha Sound System via Optical plug. Normally I had my DVD player in this plug, but replaced it with your mediaplayer. In the setup I can not find any settings to choose Dolby or stereo sounds for SPDIF. Therefor I want to know is it possible to have Dolby sounds via Optical plug and how can I set this up?
Also the sounds of MP3 just sounds like "hell" with optical, but it can be this is the same setting I am missing (?).
As well the remote control is responding very bad. need to press several times.
The DVD's playing are not the video quality as on a "real" DVD. I am playing it with the highest setting possible on auto mode of the HDMI (1080p 60 hz) .
Promised was a very quit mediaplayer, I think the fan is making many noise and also the 1TB HD is not very quit when loading music and also very slow, I can not see why this is ECO friendly...
I also bought a WiFi dongle for this system, I did not tries it yet, but I can not find any setup for the WiFi dongle in the menu, also not with pluggin it in. I did not look on the small cd-rom delivered along with the dongle.
Normally I never read an ownersmanual and just hit some buttons as most system are easy to control. In this case there is no ownersmanual delivered other than a quick setup. There almost nothing to adjust in the set up menu, so I hope everything I can adjust the sound, video, WLAN, more than in the std setup is given.
Hope for a very fast answer.
Kinds Regards, Ewald van Santen

Re: DTS and DD5.1 via Optical plug and some other things
Bro yes the player can support Dolby sound via optical SPDIF, please go to the player audio setup under SPDIF select RAW and also your MP3 will play fine on this setup. For the remote the response is just ok. Regarding the Wi-Fi dongle sad to say that the essential do not support network function, for some of your enquiry please see your PM.

Re: DTS and DD5.1 via coax
Help ,
The essential supports DTS , but i for the life of me cannot see a setting to enable DTS or switch to dolby digital. The choice seems for the physical connection type raw... , is there but the actual decoding is not in the same menu.
