It just works, straight off, everything. Amazing GUI, great integration of movies, TV, recordings, music, pictures and even games. My 6 year old loves it and dead easy to use.
I'm not a computer nerd either - pretty damn easy to set up. And because its Windows - there are a million forums and support options to use for any enhancement or bug that might exist. Free add-ins for remote scheduler function, stream your recorded TV to Android/iPhone, GUI themes, RSS feeds, weather apps, YouTube, launch your own apps, change what the remotes buttons do. Best feature IMO - the EPG is sooo quick and easy, single click to record an entire series and it's knows when it starts/finishes and is smart enough to record a few mins before and after. Almost every feature is customizable. I am in my last days with PlayOn DVR. It served me, as a media player, well for 18 months. Also was my digital TV for 6 months. I am using firmware 4824. Recordings never really worked. I had a problem with frequent corruption (one every 3 months) of NTFS in hard disk. Strange, like the infamous clock problem, disappeared! I have 6 months now without any incident. Now I am waiting a very capable mini HTPC (from competitor) to use as media player running win7 and XBMC (I will work my own version - at last I can program!). I am interested for a good TV tuner. What was the one you bought? I have to say that this is my last such buy (that needs extensive firmware support) from ACRyan. I cannot imagine when I will need a player device other than my new HTPC. With its dedicated network gigabit controller. Transfer rate to the internal disk above 30MB/s at least, instead of 4-5MB/s I get with PlayOn SoC. SoC solutions I think are dead for me, FOREVER!

So listen to your customers ACRyan. What's the future of a company that can't or won't support its products? I've had to backshift to GUI #1 just to get reasonable (like a working EPG) functionality. What's the problem with you guys? If you can't program then maybe it's time to start selling used cars instead!

Hi D100, I went with a hauppauge 2210 media kit - dual tuner and came with remote. A very reliable brand lots of good reports on it. I've had no issues with it. Good luck.
