New to PlayOn - Some Queries
Hi, Am new to the PlayOn ... did play about with it for some time and have got things running, but still haven't got the full hang of it. Having played with it for 2 days and update the firmware to r4824 to keep the AV-IN time -shift option (thanks to dasjournal), I now have some points / queries that puzzles me.
a) When I connect my 1TB Seagate external HDD via the USB port and go to Setup>Format HDD, I am only given the option to "Cancel". I do have "Internal HDD" & "External "HDD", but the two options are greyed out. Why is this? Does this work only with an internal HDD? If so, why do also see external HDD as a greyed option?
b) Time-shift ... I'm using r4824 (no internal hdd). I go to permanent time-shift and it takes me a couple of tries before I can switch it on. How then do I actually use it? Remember I am trying to time-shift from av-in ... how do I watch the part that I missed?
c) Time-shift again ... If I do not choose permanent time-shift, how do I time-shift? When I press the button on the remote, I see a crossed out circle in the corner of my screen.
d) Is it possible to pause a video I'm watching, switch to see what's happening in the AV-in and then just continue ... go back to the video when I realize that the av-in program I am looking for has not begun?
Can some one please help me with these?
Thanks

Please see answer below. Paparazzi wrote: Hi, a) When I connect my 1TB Seagate external HDD via the USB port and go to Setup>Format HDD, I am only given the option to "Cancel". If so, why do also see external HDD as a greyed option? - The player formatting system only works for built in internal HDD. b) Time-shift ... I'm using r4824 (no internal hdd). I go to permanent time-shift and it takes me a couple of tries before I can switch it on. How then do I actually use it? Remember I am trying to time-shift from av-in ... how do I watch the part that I missed? - Time shift can only work if you have an internal HDD installed in the player, as this timeshift system will be created in the internal HDD for buffering. c) Time-shift again ... If I do not choose permanent time-shift, how do I time-shift? When I press the button on the remote, I see a crossed out circle in the corner of my screen. - Sorry you cannot do this without an internal HDD. d) Is it possible to pause a video I'm watching, switch to see what's happening in the AV-in and then just continue ... go back to the video when I realize that the av-in program I am looking for has not begun? - Yes it is possible, as the player supports marking. Meaning it will remember where you had stopped playing the video file.
