Two methods to flash the firmware to your Playon!DVRHD [ACR-PV76120]

Safe-mode flashing procedure (Recommended)

1. Copy install.img to the root directory of a USB flash drive and connect it to any USB host port of the unit.
2. Switch off the main power to the unit.
3. Press and hold on to the power button on the front panel of the unit.
4. Switch on the main power.
5. Release the power button when the firmware update starts flashing on your display in a moment and will automatically reboot when update is completed.

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**

Normal flashing procedure

1. Copy install.img to the root directory of a USB flash drive and connect it to any USB host port of the unit.
2. Enter the Setup menu, System, System Update, System Upgrade and Enter to confirm.
3. The firmware update will start flashing on your display in a moment and will automatically reboot when update is completed.

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**

The HDMI connection may reset after updating the firmware and may go out of sync with your display.

Press the [TV SYS] button on the remote a few times to sync with a compatible display mode if this happen.

Once the display is back, we recommend setting to [HDMI Auto] in the video setup menu unless other modes are preferred

Anyway.... Can't test till tomorrow as I don't have a set at home for testing...

Tried to flash to latest firmware using Safe Mode method but the screen just shows the 'Loading' message for very long & nothing happens.

Tried powering off & on again but still stuck in that state & also removing the HDD but still shows 'Loading'.

What can I do to reset it?

I honestly think you or other forum-active ACRyan staff must have a set at home to use and understand what customers/owners are experiencing and to provide direct feedback to the development team. Whatever time you have in the office to use is definitely insufficient to provide any real-world experience feedback. In the office, whatever time you have would just be to verify a customer/forumer feedback and identify that as a bug or explain how it should be done. You guys are not real-world using the product.

And this being a multi-country product, must have internal "users" from the various countries to provide direct feedback before the firmware development team (user-interface team - if this structure exists within the team).

It is plain evident that the UI in previous and more so in the GUI2.0 has been developed from and software engineering design without inputs from a end-user design perspective. A simple experiment - try to view EPG for the different channels - count the number of button-press.

I think i spoke to you twice over the phone from Dubai about an upgrade to play certain mkv files. i could hear the movie but not see it.
