 Does Firmware upgrade work with no internal HDD installed?

Post Does Firmware upgrade work with no internal HDD installed?
I record to external USB only. Can someone please confirm that upgrading to the latest firmware (v8.5.4.r3966) works even when no internal HDD is installed.

Hi,

yes it is working. I don't have an intenal HDD like you.
I did the upgrade from a usb stick.

But i flashed the old firmware back, i didn't like the new on.
To many bad issues.

I did not manage to record with a USB disk and no internal HDD installed.
How do you do that ?

Hi, for you to record to an external drive you must select the correct recording device under the player setup. Go to Setup, TV and Rec then browse for recording device and select USB.
