Post Videos stop after half a minute or just before the end
Whenever I watch videos (through Wlan from my Synology NAS) over UpnP, most of the times the videos stop after half a minute or sometimes a minute. The next video starts automically.

If I fast-forward the problem does not occur, until I press play, then after a couple of seconds or half a minute the video stops again. Also most videos stop just a couple of minutes before the end...

Although very fast, a message does appear: polling remote subtitle (but I could be wrong, since its just visible for about 1/10 of a second!)

Music and photos from the NAS will playback normally.

I'm using a variety of formats: H264, Divx, xvid, but all have the same problems.

I've also downloaded and installed the latest firmware.

HELP!

try to copy one of those files on an external drive.
and then connect that drive to the pohd,
and see if the problem occurs again.

and please give us the firmware number.
and do you also use twonky ?

;)

Post Re: Videos stop after half a minute or just before the end
Hi there,

I bought my POHD very recently in Singapore and I am having the EXACT same problem as described above. I have installed a 1.5TB hdd into my POHD and everytime I try to play an MKV file, it plays for a few seconds or even a few mins and then stops randomly and directly switched to the next file.

Pls. help me out with this issue.

Thanks

it looks like a setting in the upnp server in your nas server (software)

try to stream by Browser-->network-->nas server--> shared folder there and then the movie starting.

and see if the problem is still there.
also try to put a movie file on a external disk and then connect it to the pohd.
and play it from Browser--> usb--> file and play.
just to see if it is the pohd or something else.

in order to use upnp you need a good upnp server (mostly software on your nas server)
try google for Twonky.

and to see the firmware in the pohd:
press the setup button on your remote,
go to system,
then scroll down to sysinfo and press ok (the little round button in the middle of the four arrow buutons)

now in the right pain you will be able to see the firmware number.

;)

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for your response. The mkv files I am trying to play are in a 1.5TB hdd that I have put inside the POHD. So I am guessing there is no reason to tweak the server or network settings. The files which I play by connecting a USB are playing fine. No problems with external USB. Only the internal HDD especially mkv files are giving me this problem.

What do you suggest?

putting th r3400 firmware on it but also reformat like explained here:

" [How to] install r3400 and remove partitions and reformat "

in which i assume that the same files play well from the external usb-HDD.

Are you trying to tell me I should reformat my 1.5 TB? That's gonna be a major pain in the rear..I just finished loading files into it.

And whats this new r3400? Is this a firmware update/

Thanks

yep r3400 is a beta release,
but a very stable one.

i think reformating the drive will be a bennefit for you,
as i think that something is wrong with it,
considering the studder from the disk it self.

and seen that the files play well from an external HDD,
does mean that some is wrong with the disk.
now i think the drive itself will be okay.
but the format might be wrong or the files are fragmented to much.

so you can also first try to connect the pohd to your pc
using the delivered usb-cable.
and use chkdsk (without the sector scanning but with the auto repair option on)
and when that is finished let windows also defragmentate the drive,
even if windows says there is no need for it.

and see if that helps before trying the new beta r3400.

;)
