One of Sweden’s leading hardware news & reviews websites, MikroDatorn, has just published their group test of media players.
Both the Playon!HD and Playon!HD Mini scored highly and received the Recommended award – beating ASUS and Western Digital !!
Here is a summary of the review in English:
“Although the AC Ryan Playon!HD Mini has no internal hard drive, it does not mean we have to sacrifice a lot of functionality compared with Playon!HD. The AC Ryan Playon!HD Mini plays virtually everything we test it on. With the latest control software, we also find support to pass along HD sound to our amplifiers. Somewhat surprisingly, we can play our Avatar-folder-rip via samba unlike the Playon!HD, where the picture and sound is chopped. ISO rip just as much. More surprising is that we can play the ISO rip through a nfs connection.
AC Ryan ships with lots of cables with their players, including an HDMI cable, something they are alone with in this test. The remote they send is the very best among all players. It has all the buttons we need and are very good in the hand”
