“PLAYON!HD Mini takes about 15sec to start, so waiting times are extremely low. Movie Jukebox is a really cool feature that was added with newer firmware. It gives the person an opportunity to gather all films on the network and create a "jukebox“, so you movie collection can be viewed easily. The remote control performs very well and is intuitive. AC Ryan is incredibly good with firmware updates.

Power consumption was also measured, and not surprisingly, it is incredibly low. In standby, we could not measure it, because our consumption meter cannot measure below 1.0 W, so we consider that consumption is around 0.5 to 1.0, which is very little. In switched mode, consumption was 6.5 W and it is certainly not very much. With the USB Wifi dongle connected and a USB stick, it sneaked up to consumption of just 6.7 W.

AC Ryan is not a brand one associates with media streaming, so it was somewhat a surprise that their product landed on our test bench. Nevertheless, this little streamer plays (almost) everything you throw at it. It may be more file types than many of the other devices on the market. We must actually go up in size to the Popcorn Hour, which costs significantly more.

The PLAYON! HD mini proves that good things can come in small packages, and at an affordable price - unit costs just under 800kr on the Internet. Overall we are very pleased with PLAYON!HD mini here, just as we were with the PLAYON!HD”
