Leading German hardware website Hartware.net just reviewed the Mini and it impressed!

“A convincing media player”


“The menus are very clutter-free, and certain options can be found very quickly. Among the major new features include YAMJ, which scans the desired files and uses different filters to create an information library. Furthermore, it is now possible to record songs from Internet radio. The last major feature was ThumbGen, a community programmed Plug-in for extended information about movies and music. Some meaningful features integrated to further enhance the player.

It is now easier to find the right point in a movie, since the individual images load faster…overall it works much better. During operation, the heat of the player is not worth mentioning, even after hours of playing HD Movies, even though no fan is installed. There is quite a lot of space in the unit to allow the air to circulate. The general rendition quality is still very good. Even less good video files show, on old and new televisions, the quality very well. Particularly videos, which point out during playing on a PC some weaknesses (e.g. resolution), become effective.

Overall, the Playon!HD Mini is convincing. The new firmware expands the Player with useful features that provide information about movies and music, view the new weather display and recording of Internet radio. For a television and speakers, the most important connections are there with component, composite, HDMI and optical output ports.

If you can do without the internal storage, this is a recommended media player at 95 euro”
