Post Re: [Official]POHD MINI PV73200 (SDK3.X) r3582
I too upgraded. I too regrettably noticed no real feature improvements. In fact, there are a few setbacks with this release, such as the screen size setting having disappeared and movies now playing at less than full screen size, yes pressing Zoom button about 5 times up to 100%xy helps BUT this IS irritating. I cannot come up with a reason as to why this setting was removed for it has not improved usability.

Development must have had reasons to include features that seem less obvious to most users *like HFS support and so* first before anything else. Making the device more user friendly (search histories with Internet Radio, bookmarks to network folders and who knows what more) perhaps comes later. I certainly hope so. I would also appreciate some stability improvements. The box resets or hangs in the Radio section very often.

Also, the remote is a pain to use with most of the features, I've so far only enjoyed using it for movies. through Upnp this actually works swift and easy. All the other things are a bit of a hassle and not yet designed for daily use. Unless of course one enjoys training the finger muscles and giving the remote a good workout on the virtual keyboard. :)

Anyway, if dev is reading this, then obviously ignore the sarcasm :) Do take people's calls for more noticeable improvements in every day use seriously and then I think the community will be a bit more appreciative of the work done.

Cheers.

PS: Shanghai/China is not listed in the weather section!!! 25 million people cannot check there local weather! OMG!! :D

Small topic to report:

When browsing ALL files. The folder.jpg (eg. created by Thumbgen) is shown in the right panel. This happens also when browsing MUSIC. But this doesn’t show up when browsing MOVIES. Is this normal?

Updated to r3582. For me this update has a huge advantage compared to r4312. All my HD files are on my Time Capsule (Apple NAS, router, printserver combination). The former firmware versions (including r4312) had problems, resulting in studder during playback. This firmware is a must when you stream your files using your network.

Issues/things to impove found so far:
- Navigation via blue arrows don't work (already mentioned in this tread).
- Subtitle set to "On" in Settings Menu doesn't work. I always have to switch on subtitles when starting a video.
- GUI is horrible. In the Browser Menu I can hardly see what I'm selecting due to silly chosen colors
- I would like an option to create direct shortcuts to video files on my nas (e.g. \\ip address\video\hd). It would be superb to have the opportunity to place them in the Browser Menu root.
- After restarting the device, 1080p videos sometimes studder. After disconnecting the power the issue is solved (unfortunately just temporarily). I think this has something to do with the buffer/cache which isn't flushed properly so the buffer is too small for correct playback.
- Make DVD in Browser Menu an option which can be grayed out/removed using the Settings Menu. Almost nobody is using this.

For this you don't need firmware change... you can just simply open the box and disconnect the blue wire (for red led) from the connector.

Although, it would be easier if that would be already implemented...yeah.

Overall, I find your comment meaningful... all the time I see that in new FW release there are mainly bug fixes, and features that tell me nothing. I am all the time waiting for something I can realy use with pleasure, like you suggested, Tepper.

Good that i read this forum before upgrading.
I don't want to press (m)any key to switch audio from stereo to surround and back all the time which was one of the reason why i sold my asus o!play.
If there is surround, then play surround (passthrough). If there is only stereo then play stereo (pcm).

Who had this stupid idea to remove important features that already existed before like the skip forward/backward function ?
Why do i still have to press so many keys to reach a folder and finally start a movie ? Where are the shortcuts for folders ?
Why do i set the date and time and cannot display it ?

me too, I understand why we went back to basics for the SDK kit but I would have rather waited for a more polished release.

hey

does this beta release capable of making the mini a NAS? i use this very frequent and need it as i always dump my files from PC to ext HDD.

Also is it capable of making shoutcast work properly?

I dislike the 3582 due to the colors on the interface.. it gives it a very gothic and unentertaining look... plus it's not fast when playing movie.. unlike my WDTV

Just try this firmware version

Bug report:

If select THAI menu interface
When set time / Internet time after press OK the system reboot and not save any value

If select ENGLISH menu interface I can set time without reboot

Suggestion:

1. Blue button can't ff like previous version should be come back
2. "Menu" button not show menu like previous version
3. "Subtitle" button switch to each subtitle immediately without press Enter like it is now

New feature:
1. Because HD movie not have sections like DVD so Green button should auto jump for x seconds/minutes that can be selectable in setting menu

For the time being I switch back to beta 7.0.21 r4312 until new firmware come out with interesting features.
