Did you install firmware 3582 before installing 5440?
The SDK 3 and 4 firmware releases require a new bootloader which will be installed together with firmware 3582.
This was not very well communicated by AC Ryan.

i got a lil' bug to report, atleast i think its a bug. When i set the zoom on 'stretch' and i use the left and right arrows to go back and forth in the movie it moves the screen left and right instead.

Looks like the password comment was wrong - I select a shortcut, it logs me in fine.

The problems I was having with video stuttering and resetting appear to have gone.

Still have the problem of the navigation sometimes moving twice on up and right. Left and down are fine - very odd

Getting out of sync audio though - thought that had been fixed ages ago. Stopping and restarting appear to fix it though,

Just need to get around to setting up YAMJ now.

Hi Duivels,
Yes - went through 3 releases (including that one) as per Arne's post - did them in safe mode - actually did each one twice before doing the next one as well. (I saw a recommendtaion about that once). They all installed fine.

Have now gone back to 7.0.21r4107 installed in safe mode for now. I can confirm that the "Unknown Hardware" message is gone.

Looking back at the original wave of people that upgraded from the 7.0.x to the sdk3 software, some people had the same problem I am reporting now. Everything is fine until you leave the unit switched off for a 'long' (say overnight) period of time. When you switch it on, it brings up the AC Ryan/Playon logo at 576 line display, then the resolution switches to 1080, then the message "Unknown hardware! The software can't work" comes up. If you plug/unplug the wifi dongle the "USB WiFi Plug-in" message appears to indicate that the hardware is being recognised etc. You can only reset the unit by pulling the power plug out. Then it works fine again until the next overnight.

For the record, after the upgrades, the boot loader reports as 0000.0202.1026L

As mentioned above I have now gone back to 7.0.21r4107 and the boot loader still shows as 0000.0202.1026L

Obviously I am the only lucky guy without problems :) .

My bootloader is 0000.0202.1026 without L and my hardware version 1073DD C+ . I have a wired network connection.
Did you use the European or Asian firmware versions? I do not know if the different languages are the only differences between these versions. Software development at AC Ryan is a bit sloppy.

Post Re: [Official] Firmware_PV73200_v7.4.x.r5440
Even though I was very sceptical and had given up on AC Ryan firmware I did give it a last try and installed the latest firmware recently........

And I am glad I did, this is the best so far and fast as well, my audio files play from the start (as it should). Internet content is working properly so overall I am satisfied.

However.......
1) Internet radio channels do not download (the individual stations)
- not a big issue since I have this feature on my Smart TV from Samsung as well
2) Occasionally one of my external HDD's are not recognized/picked up
- after a restart they are there again
3) Sometimes the mini does not execute the command given by the remote right away
4) Sometimes the mini responds to quickly to the remote and running over de selections too fast

These are not major and overall I am impressed also with the shortcuts feature but especially 3 and 4 can be annoying from time to time. Finally a firmware worth installing since everything plays as it should... They are on the right track finally if you ask me.

As mentioned mine reports :
Boot loader 0000.0202.1026L
Board 1073DD (No extra letters).

I only used the European software - I imagine that the asian versions would get me lost - though I suppose I could install then in 'safe' mode - then finish off with the last european version....

So - Can anyone confirm what the difference is between boot loader 0000.0202.1026 and the same number with an L on the end???? Is there a problem with board 1073DD ??

As I said before I am happy to try any beta debugs etc.

I upgraded my playonhd mini from version 3582 to this latest version. After I have enable samba for the device. When I connect the PlayonHD using Aztech homeplug to connect to my PC network, whenever I browse the usb HD attached to my playonHD mini, initial connection was ok. But after a few seconds, playonHD mini always disconnected from the network. I tried this previously while on version 3582 and I do not have this problem.
To isolate whether it is a homeplug problem or the playon hd. I tried connecting another notebook through the homeplug connection used by playonhd. And When I used my desktop PC to browse the shared folders, there is no disconnection after a min. Not sure what is different compared to previous firmware.
Vinson.

I have the same Board, and also face the same 'Unknown Hardware problem'. I also did the upgrade path (even a couple of times) as described, however to no avail.

It did not occurred before the last couple of firmwares, so a hardware problem seems unlikely.

The symptoms are:
When the unit is on standby a while (couple of hours) or sometimes even when it's unplugged for a while, when booting up, the error occurs.
The workaround is:
to unplug the power, wait a few seconds, and then plug in and boot. Then it boots up fine. Annoying, but workable, as long as it does not get any worse.

The new firmware seems to have an issue with the Slow button. Previously while browsing the folders and pressing Slow on a movie folder it was possible to see an image preview generated for example by ThumbGen (e.g. a movie sheet file). Now pressing the Slow button does not do anything. Has the behaviour of this changed?
