Hello GunnarGren,

For now, USB-hdd's can be automatically indexed and then accessed rather quickly from the main menu.

FYI,

We have already tested an internal test version of firmware that has the possibility to add network and local shortcuts to the main menu and it works, so this is coming in our next release that should be quite soon, depending on the results of our internal testing.

Br,

Thank you Mikael for the good news and I am looking forward to seeing a next version very soon.
Wonder if this feature is available for mini2 in the next version too?

Mikael: yes that's true but that's not the point because... "Shortcuts for material on for example usb disks...". I think we all have some sort of order on our disks. A shortcut to for example:

...music/rock/acdc/for those about to rock

would be nice to be able to do. And access that shortcut from the main menu. But if it's coming... I'll be glad. To bad that the latest firmware seems to have fucked up the usb ports.

Are you perhaps using a usb powered hdd? If so, I think the problem lies there. Official usb port maximum power output is 500mA. There are quit some of these drives that are using more. I think the new firmware changed limit to 500mA.

You can test this with powered usb harddrive or powered usb hub.

Less of a bug and more of a request: in the audio playback window the cover artwork is only displayed when its embedded in the ID3-tag. It should also display the Folder.jpg there. Also it would be nice if the "Artist - Track title" would be displayed again in the screensaver while playing audio. Previous firmwares did that, why was that removed again?

Gtx,

Scuppa

Im using "powered" 1TB Hdd and USB ports really are messed up, sometimes Mini can see Hdd, sometimes not, sometimes restart helps and other time doesn ´t help at all. In previous FW there was no problem. This should be solved in next FW. (the sooner , the better)

@funto
I see a similar problem with a 1GB USB memory stick and the SDK4 firmware. The only reliable way I found of getting the SDK 4 firmware to reliably see the memory stick on power up, was to remove it and re-insert it before power on.
Does reduce the usability a bit and oen of the reasons I have again gone back to r4824

Thank you for replying Mikael. That is just the sort of response that I expect from a company that cares about their customers - quick and to the point.

Although I'm disappointed that the NFS issues won't be addressed in the next release at least I know for sure that you are aware of them. And I know where I stand.

Thank you once again.

John.

Does anybody know whether this release has solved the NFS problems?

Hello,

FYI!

This is still present and it will not be included in the next fix either, this is a tricky one at the moment.

I'm sorry for your inconvenience,

Br,

What about the problems/bugs with stuttering videos, don´t play some videos under NFS?
And the bug with connection abort under Samba?

I have a problem playing mkv videos with r3966 and r4585. If the bit rate in the video is to high (average bit rate of the blu rays is 30-40 MBit/s), the video start jerking. Additionally it takes about 12-14 seconds to start a video (time from selecting it from the file browser until seeing the first frame).

I tested a mkv files with a lower bit rate (less than 10 MBit/s). This movie runs without jerking, but converting all my BDs is not a good option since I know the hardware can do it :-)

After a factory reset everything is working again until I suspend and resume the device for the first time. If looks like a setting value is not written or so.

With the 7.3.x.r4824 release there were no jerks and I think with 7.4.x.r2115 also (I can check this if needed)

To my system:
I have a 2TB Western Digital drive formatted with ext3 attached to the device. The HD can read at least 30 Mb/s when being attached to the PC.
USB2 slot is empty.

PS: Very nice GUI!
