For now, I have put the mini aside and I am using another media player. 4824 is based on sdk 3.x which has the known audio and subtitle bugs Sdk 4.x doesn't have that bugs anymore That is the reason they now build further on sdk 4.x I hear you. But seriously doubt the SDK 4 will ever be trouble free for the mini 1.

 Re: [BETA] ACR-PV73200 v7.4.x.r2115 Playon!HD Mini
All,
I do not know exactly whether this is a bug in this firmware, but I do not feel like flashing the old firmware just to find out whether this is a bug. My apologies if this should not be in this thread...
I was playing around with the screensaver, trying to make it display pictures from my picturesfolder. My folderstructure is quite simple \MUSIC\ARTIST\ALBUM \VIDEO\TITLE \PICTURES\DATE But is seems I can only browse to folders within my Music Folder (regardless of how deep they are in). Is this only in this firmware? How can I set it to display (random) pictures from \PICTURES ?
Another question: is it possible to im/export settings somehow so that I can fool around with the different firmwares without having to restore all the settings manually?
Greetings and thanks for bearing and thinking with me,
Henrov

flashed my mini to this firmware this morning and i am very impressed with its looks.
It is very sluggish but it does work!
i have noticed a couple of things:
if i go into the shortcuts section i don't have the option to "add" when i press the menu button. Has the procedure to setup a shortcut changed?
i am unable to browse to my pictures folder when trying to setup the screensaver (i actually can't browse to any folder for that matter)
would love to see a qwerty keyboard (i know its being worked on)
despite these problems i think i will stick with it.
Great Work AC Ryan - can't wait for the final release!

Okay. It's been two months since the latest beta was released. Obviously with some things working and a lot of things not working.
Why don't you release a version with the basic things that works? The passthrough issue is solved as I understand it. That bug has been a real pain, but as long as it's only included in a beta that doesn't work as a whole, it's no good.
Is it totally impossible to give us a "light" new firmware with this fixed?

Is this firmware still in beta? If so, why does A.C. Ryan market the Playon!HD Mini like this: http://www.acryan.com/web/product/playo ... /overview/GUI 2.0 - beta or not?!

kraakie wrote: It's available yes final version no. You mean that A.C. Ryan has a policy to sell hardware with beta firmware that doesn't work?! I am not sure A.C. Ryan understands what badwill that brings to the trademark and all their products. When I buy a product, I assume that it is working. Since I bought my Playon!HD Mini I've realised that A.C. Ryan sells products that are still test versions. This is totally new to me, and obviously to many other buyers of A.C. Ryan products. It's time for A.C. Ryan to understand how totally wrong they are. You can not market products with beta firmware and expect buyers to accept downgrading to older firmware versions with less funciontality.

No new beta firmware or release after two months... ...It's a shame. I'm totally disappointed from ACR.

 Re: [BETA] ACR-PV73200 v7.4.x.r2115 Playon!HD Mini
I've been promising myself some more time to play with the new firmware for some weeks, after my first attempt, and I wasn't impressed. Today was a rare occurrence - I had time free, and control of the TV, PC and POHD Mini all at the same time. So I loaded up r4415 again. Following advice in other threads I did manage to mount my Videos share onto the Videos folder on a USB stick, and the new firmware saw it and duly started indexing it. So far so good. However If I want images in the icons of the movies I'll have to add the individual jpegs to the movies folder - that's around 630 jpegs to sort out - hang on, that's what YAMJ is for.
A few reboots of the device confirmed that the new f/w does not always recognise my USB stick on boot up - in fact for 3 out of 4 reboots I had to either reseat the USB stick or power cycle the POHD Mini - not very impressive.
It is still impossible to create a folder in /tmp/ramfs/volumes, mount a share to it, and have the new GUI see it as a device or volume (as you can on SDK3 firmware) - this is poor as it means a few more button pushes on the remote to find the Jukebox index file.
So I mounted my Jukebox share onto a folder on the USB stick and, several unnecessary button pushes later, the Jukebox was visible on the screen. It looks nice but that's about it. Using the main screen, which shows all the content, I browsed to a box set - only to find the main screen does not understand boxed sets or TV series and does not display any content for them. You have to use the menu button and arrow keys to get to the 'sets' window on the top row of the screen, before boxed sets and TV series are understood by the new firmware and content is displayed correctly.
As I've said before the YAMJ Categories are missing, and the speed at which you can browse through entries on the Jukebox screen is very slow - yes I know it's a beta, but even so it's still slow.
So my verdict - 3/10 at best. The Jukebox implementation is absolute utter rubbish, and is worse than any of the SDK 3 firmwares. It still has all of the niggles and problems of the SDK3 Jukebox, with a few features left out, such as the categories, the main screen doesn't display boxed sets and TV series content.
So for a second time I'm going back to R4415, as that seems to be the most stable SDK 3 firmware fior me, and hope that AC Ryan will address the problems in the new release.
I've been a supporter of AC Ryan so far, but even my patience is wearing a bit thin. Two months since the release of the firmware and the information coming out of AC Ryan is non existent There are a lot of people out here who do like the products, are willing to test new firmware, and all we need is a bit of information so we can see we are being listened to and heard Still no list of bug fixes - so we can see acknowledged issues and when they will be fixed, and no timescales or dates
Contrast this to the way YAMJ is developed - yes I know it's free software, but the information on Google Code, and the regular developer releases of YAMJ show far better support and response to the user community than AC Ryan.
So come on AC Ryan, start interacting with the user community a bit more, keep us updated, and concentrate on fixing the bugs and isses - we don't need new features - fix the existing ones first
